On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a superior room in the ‘new wing’. We had booked a superior room anyway. The room was a lot smaller than expected and can’t have been that new as the grouting on the tiles in the bathroom was mouldy. It seemed the old wing was being used as temporary housing for families.
The bathroom itself was tiny. If you wanted to use the sink, you had to close the door. This wasn’t ideal if you had used the shower because the bathroom was hot and steamed up.
There was no dressing table, just a full length mirror with a plug situated too far away for the hairdryer provided.
The room itself was boiling. There was air con but that didn’t work. Our room was on the ground floor with massive windows but all were locked. The room looked onto the car park and main entrance so the curtains had to remain closed.
On our first morning, housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:30am to ask if we would like our room cleaned.
Breakfast on the first morning was terrible. Everything was dried / shrivel up, even the beans had no sauce in them.
The second morning was better.
After staying in many Doubletree hotels before, this place was a big disappointment.
