Everything about the decor of this hotel is impressive

Excellent location within walking distance of basically everything, but I got stuck in what they called a 'twin' room on my first night in spite of booking a double because, when you book a double on Expedia, apparently it's only put through as a 'request' and I had the phrase 'Subject to availability' thrown in my face several times. This 'twin' room was essentially the dead space at the top of the stairs that they had somehow managed to squeeze two single beds into, but even some of the space in the room itself wasn't usable because of an additional four steps shortly after getting through the door. The bathroom was so tiny that you couldn't even sit on the toilet properly because the pipe from the sink was in the way. I made sure I was moved to a proper room the following morning, and it was a vast improvement. Not huge by any means but clean, with a good sized bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Tea/Coffee machine in Reception that was free to use until noon was a welcome addition, and there was some handy bits and pieces you could pick up like maps and mini-cards with details of all the attractions you could visit.

Pros: Great price for a large room with windows overlooking canals. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast included in room rate. Refrigerator in room with mini-bar. Great location for walking to Amsterdam landmarks, or using the city tram system. Directly on shopping streets with nearby grocery store options if you have a long stay. Cons: Building next door is under construction blocking walking path to hotel from one direction (very small inconvenience and there was no noise from construction).

Property was so close to Rembrandt Square so taxis, food, drink and the canals were out the front door.
