Staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast had lots of options and the cooked buffet was refreshed regularly Beds were good - shower just ok but not bad.

Poor welcome at reception …first room had a bad damp/dog smell…so moved second day. Unable to order dinner at 8.48pm despite being told kitchen open til 9pm..we only arrived at 8.20pm ..& waited quite a while to be booked in as no one manning reception. Rang the bell 3 times & went to bar area twice to ask for a staff member to book us in. Lift had a dog smell on second day. Good breakfast & friendly night staff manning the bar.

First off, this is a 700 year old building. I cannot even imagine having to maintain modern facilities in such an old property. That's where the deductions come off for cleanliness and maintenance. The positives: Friendly and helpful staff, absolutely prime location inside the Latin quarter. 30 seconds after leaving your room, you can be ordering a pint at the pub next door. They mention the noise in the description, but it wasn't really a big issue so long as you kept the windows closed. The negatives: Our room (Wordsworth) was TINY (again, it's a 700 year old building so that is to be expected), but the room was more appropriately sized for a single twin bed when it had a double. There was maybe 8" of space on the wall side of the room and a foot and a half on the bathroom side of the room. The mattress was...not good. No support on the sides of the mattress, so as soon as you found yourself there (at the side of the bed, as will be the case with 2 standard+ sized adults) gravity really wanted to put me on the floor. The TV didn't work, it just sat there blinking red at us. Finally and most concerning (to me), once you start the shower, you might as well have been on an ice rink. The shower floor was INCREDIBLY slippery. A rubber mat would have made all the difference.
