There was evidence of smoking - cigarette ends on the flat roof outside the only functioning window. The chair was broken. The continental breakfast was not served on time and was meagre and very poor. The staff were friendly however and with a bit of thought and better planning it could easily improve.
Clean and friendly staff that's all I need. Great for a stopover for a day or two. I we s travelling through the night and the hotel staff made it possible to check in early so I could get forty winks

Not good
The bed was very old and dipped in the middle. There was NO wifi and it was advertised as having wifi. The TV had very poor reception on most channels and couldn't be watched.
If you are staying on Friday or Saturday night forget about sleeping!! SOOOOO noisy from 3am onwards with nobody trying to keep the noise down and that includes the night porter!! No tea or coffee in rooms, only 1 plug socket for tv which was probably 20 years old and everything else so out-dated !! It was reasonably clean though and that is the only reason I actually stayed! cheap but not cheerful and I won't be staying here again.
We stayed here on Friday night after the wrestling in Newcastle, there was just the two of us and for what we needed it was perfect. The beds were super comfy and the room was very clean the only minor problem we had was that we turned the radiator right down as it was extremely hot in the room but this didn't work. Other than that it was perfect. The radiator issue was only very minor and I wouldn't even say it was a complaint as we just opened the windows
Looks nothing like pictures advertised, I know it was cheap but carpets weren't hoovered, smelled like someone had just used the loo in my room before id arrived, on last night got absolutely no sleep with next door running about slamming doors through the night and physically fighting in hallway, definitely never be back..
I booked one night after a function just across the road. The welcome (from Gina) could not have been better. The room was amazing with a four poster bed, en suite bathroom, quiet with a view over countryside. Chef & bar staff very friendly and ready to be flexible on timing. Food & drink very reasonably priced. Could not understand why this is only a two start hotel. Thoroughly recommended.
Arrived at the hotel to find no one on reception and had to wait for almost 30min for someone to arrive. The room was quite nice, but I got an electric shock off one of the light fittings in the room which was unsafe, after telling reception they told me I shouldn't have been touching it and offered me a free drink in the bar which I refused, an over all bad experience so do your self a favour and don't stop at this hotel.
It was amazing and I will definitely visit again.
Little help ,guide book could be useful in the rooms about how to use wifi if any available ,what to eat where to eat ,how to contact reception .
Just the basic information.

Good for the Price
Decent stay - room was clean and big.
- Staff fairly abrasive - rang to ask if I could check in half an hour early and they said it was fine, did a detour to get there only to be told It depends on what room I was in.
Bed was v small, room was booked for two people but only I was staying - for me it was fine but would have been impossible for 2 people.
Generally though, was miles cheaper than anything city centre, perfectly functional, close to centre. Would recommend for a nuts and bolts hotel.
Non nous sommes vraiment loin du belle hôtel vendu sur les photos;
DONC ALLER DORMIR AILLEURS!!!
The room was freezing there was no radiator on and the receptionist said if it deoes not come on she will give us extra duvets, and the toilet was dirty.

ok for overnight stay
room was cold due to broken radiators staff were good room was clean and beds comfortable, this hotel has lots of potential that a bit of TLC could deal with
meals need to be cooked properly.proper signage directing people to the hotel would help as people are advised to turn into the estate 1/2 a mile away. bar area could be made more welcoming.overall the hotel was ok but you get what you pay for . not far from the towns of gateshead and newcastle and if they wish to attract groups a deal with a local minibus firm would be advantageous
