The Executive Inn
They could tell you when booking that they were renovating. They could also give you a club card to use in the club to obtain club prices. I could have saved a bit if they had done this (or at least informed me of the savings.)

Rooms are very clean with electrical controls. Easy parking and excellent breakfast.

To start with the paid parking system is confusing and poorly handled by staff. So bad that the front counter staff didn't even know what code was needed to leave and return to the carpark on foot. Holiday Inn Express Newcastle by IHG
Hotel itself was fine, room also fine. No issues with actual accomodation. Did decide to eat at Hotel. Food was poor. Complained and was refunded.
