As noted in the comments, the path down to the river is a difficult hike up and down, but doable. Not good for elderly or young kids. Kitchen could also be better furnished. We love Gruene and stayed at a different VRBO this summer.. we loved this home so much because of its seclusion but right on the edge of town and walking distance to all! The house fit us perfectly. The 4th room is really not a room. It is located off the master restroom and it is tiny. My grandson whom is 7 stayed in that room and was able to fit on the small bed. The location is great and walking distance to everything. It was very hot when we went and the A/C had a hard time keeping the house cool. The steep walkway to the riverfront was really hard to get to if not fit. The kids enjoyed the big yard and there was plenty of parking if you have multiple vehicles. Lots of great people watching and live music from the front porch too! All of the furniture was nice/new and the home was very comfortable for our family of 9\. My only complain is the lack of privacy with the glass doors to the bedrooms and especially the bathroom. We enjoyed live music from the pizza place across the street one evening. The hike down to the river is for the physically fit only. But once there it is a lovely stretch of the Guadalupe river that we enjoyed for hours at a time. We also hiked over to the bridge and tubed down to our place. The loft bed was perfect for my 87 yr old father. He is good with stairs and the bathroom was right there for his numerous nightly visits. BUT, there is no door on that bathroom that also services the master bedroom. So we had to let each other know when it was occupied. Another family took the big bunkbed room and they asked me to let the owner know that the closet is full of cockroaches. They had their luggage in there, so they were careful when they got home. The kitchen was very nice, the decks and views amazing and it was almost a perfect vacation spot. ##### Karen L. Right across the street from a great pizza place and a very short walk (couldn’t be more than 5 minute walk) to the Gristmill, Rocking R Tube Rentals, Gruene Hall, etc. The house is basically right in the heart of Gruene which was a big plus for our group. Owner was very responsive and understanding when we locked ourselves out of the house on accident one night. The mattresses were very comfy for a rental and easily slept 8 adults. There are dishes but only 4 coffee cups and no dishwashing soap so we ended up getting disposable stuff which was fine.
