Find hotels in Neudorf from £45

The best area to stay in Neudorf is the Altstadt, or Old Town, which is the historic heart of the city.

This area is very walkable and is characterised by its traditional half-timbered houses and narrow, cobbled streets. The Altstadt is built around the Marktplatz, or Market Square, where you'll find the historic Rathaus (Town Hall) and several cafes with outdoor seating. It's the central point for local life and offers a true sense of Neudorf's heritage.

Couples will find the Altstadt particularly appealing. Its charming streets and selection of independent shops and restaurants create a pleasant setting for a relaxed trip. You can enjoy strolls along the river, which borders the Altstadt, or visit the Neudorf Castle, which is just a short walk from the Marktplatz.

For travellers looking for convenience and modern amenities, the area just east of the Altstadt, known as Ostviertel, is a good alternative. This district is newer and offers a range of contemporary hotels with facilities like high-end fitness equipment and more spacious rooms.

The best time to visit Neudorf is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the natural beauty of the Harz Mountains is at its peak.

During these months, the temperatures are mild, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling. In late spring, the forests are lush and green, and wildflowers begin to bloom. Early autumn offers stunning foliage, with the landscape transforming into a canvas of reds, oranges, and yellows. The air is crisp and clear, providing excellent visibility for scenic views.

For those who enjoy winter sports, December to March can also be a good time to visit, especially if you're interested in skiing or snowboarding in the nearby Harz resorts. However, be prepared for colder temperatures and potential snow, which can sometimes impact travel plans.
