I know they have a no-refund policy, but I would have thought there might be some forgiveness given the situation with the pandemic. I had ten different accommodations lined up, and was able to receive a full refund from 7 of them and a voucher from 2 of them. Hotel Gígur was impossible to get ahold of! I tried emailing them twice and Expedia called them over 6 times on my behalf and were never able to receive an answer. It was only after the date of my scheduled stay, that I received word from them. They refused to give me a refund, even with the current conditions. I look forward to rescheduling my trip to Iceland for next summer, but will not work with this hotel moving forward. Enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfy and staff was pleasant and accommodating. We had a twin room with private bath that was small. The hotel is located in front of the pseudo craters which was worth visiting. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The view was very nice. I had the trout with mixed vegetables. The serving of trout was amply, however the serving of vegetables was skimpy. There is a variety of options on the menu. The breakfast bar was large and had a lot of options. Something for everyone. I think the reality is that the pictures are artfully crafted. It feels a bit run-down in reality as you enter. The breakfast area is indeed nice. The rooms are quite small and have no extras (such as water for tea, microwave or fridge). We were hesitant to stay in a guesthouse and so chose this to have our own bathroom, but felt a bit disappointed by it at the end.
