Marktplatz is the central square, often hosting local markets and surrounded by cafes and shops. The area extends down to the Muuksee, offering pleasant walks along the water's edge and views of the lake.

For couples, the Old Town provides a romantic setting with its historic charm and many dining options. You're within easy reach of the Muuks Castle, a prominent landmark, and can enjoy leisurely strolls by the lake or explore the local artisan shops.

For most visitors, the best time to go to Muuks is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September.

During this period, the weather is generally warm and pleasant, making it ideal for enjoying the outdoor activities and natural beauty of Mecklenburg. You'll find longer daylight hours, superb for exploring the lakes, forests, and countryside. July and August are the warmest months, with average temperatures often reaching the low to mid-20s Celsius.

This season is particularly good for families looking to make the most of the region's recreational offerings. Many of the lake-based activities, such as swimming, sailing, and cycling along the shorelines, are at their best. The local farms and orchards are also in full swing, offering fresh produce and a chance to experience rural life.

Couples might find late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September) especially appealing. The weather is still lovely, but there are generally fewer crowds than in the peak summer months.
