"Quite a Nice Hotel"
Formerly the Hotel France , but over the last couple of years renovated , and with a large striking courtyard .
Our 2 bed room faced the street through a "French" balcony . but street noise was not bad ( for Mexico ) .
The décor is excellent throughout , the air conditioning units are all now installed , and effective , and the internet connection was good . Staff congenial and helpful , and the rooms are clean .. TV abit small an
The price is very reasonable . I am aware that there are quite a few rooms with no windows .
A breakfast is available at additional cost , but at a reasonable price , though the warm food is mostly designed to appeal to Mexican guests , who are the majority . But , there is cereal , yoghurt , fruit , pastries , fruit , excellent fresh rolls , and good coffee ( many hotels in Oaxaca seem to think Nescafe is coffee !! ) .
The location is excellent , just a five minute walk or less to the Zocalo .
We enjoyed our stay of one week .
Complaints ? Yes ... we told the manager that there is no place to put toilet articles in the bathroom , and he says that they are aware of this , and hope to correct it soon .
And , if you want ice , the hotel has none , and has to send someone to get it , which they did willingly on all occasions except once , so we always gave a tip to the young man who was sent out for it . TV too small and little choice in English .
The noise from the courtyard could be annoying , especially when there are guests with children .
