"Right in the middle of practically everything! Historic sites, restaurants and piazzas. Nicely restored historic building with very helpful and friendly staff (Chendra was especially helpful)."

"Massimo's property is a really lovely place to end the day and relax.
Breakfast was perfect to get us fueled up for a long day of walking ahead!
Beautiful view from the bedroom balcony and great communication from a wonderful host.
Taxi's are easy around Gozo, but when visiting Victoria the bus is also convenient. "

"Overall it was a nice property. The rooftop pool was enjoyable, the breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and the room was nice - however even though we booked a room with a view, the view was very limited. Also we made an error and booked 3 nights rather than 2. The property did not give us a refund and were not even flexible w us for even a credit for the spa or restaurant so that was disappointing."
"Great location if you want to be close to Gozo and Comino Ferry while also being next to the less rocky beaches of Malt. The Public Transport near this hotel was also very reliable and useful to get around while food was all next to the location. The pools were very clean and nice and the amenities were awesome. Staff definitely made you feel VIP the entire time."
"The hotel itself is tired but the staff are amazing and really helpful. We opted for half board which was outstanding. Gluten free diet catered for perfectly. Bbq on the roof was an amazing experience, great views and outstanding food. It’s a lovely picturesque spot too. Pool is gorgeous. A really lovely hotel.
The car park under the hotel is errrr interesting, bit like a rollercoaster ride"
"Highly recommend this resort!!! Very friendly and helpful staff, easy access to several amazing restaurants onsite (we especially liked Sole,
the outdoor grill Tavern place, and the Italian restaurant). Breakfast buffet had a large variety of choices…can dine inside or out. Nice swimming area in the Mediterranean with drink and food service at the lawn chairs. Very quiet at night in the rooms but also close enough to walk down to the nightlife. Room was spacious and thoroughly cleaned each day with turndown service. The executive lounge with balconies was very well stocked with snacks and drinks. Ample covered parking. The only suggestions for improvement I can think of would be to have a separate beach towel station poolside rather than guests needing to walk inside over the bridge to get them, and to add more room outlets by the bed/desk. Would definitely stay here again. Overall 10/10 experience."
"The hotel was excellent for location and amenities. The beach club was great for bathing and access for sea swimming. The roof top pool is worth a visit so book a sunbed as soon as you arrive. The bar was very good and staff great at drink making at both the hotel and beach club. Check in was speedy and staff on the desk were friendly and helpful.
The negatives were the size of room so not a lot of room for clothes storage or cases and the awkward design of the bathroom, which made it so difficult to access.
The app was useful but a little confusing in some parts, the recommendations locally for restaurants and trips were very good.
Location of the hotel is good for the ferry and a shopping complex is 10 mins walk away."
"Our stay was very pleasant.
Big thanks to Katerina and whole team - they were all very kind, helpful, professional and friendly!
We were satisfied with the cleanliness of the room and the functionality of all the amenities.
Rooms are spacious and very well maintained as the entire hotel.
Breakfast is excellent with so many options.
The gym and pools are clean with a pleasant water temperature.
The beach is very near and is free for hotel guests.
Across the street is a Spar market with all necessities.
Our strong recommendation for this hotel!"
"I would rate this hotel 4 out of 5 stars.
The Grand Hotel Excelsior offers everything you would expect from a five-star resort: indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a well-equipped fitness center, multiple restaurants and bars, and excellent amenities. The hotel is also spotless, very well maintained, and the staff is genuinely attentive and welcoming.
That said, the property feels frozen in the early 2010s and is due for a major renovation. The exterior showed significant peeling paint in several areas, some of the furniture was noticeably worn, and there were no power outlets near the beds, making it inconvenient to charge phones and other devices overnight. The lack of USB charging ports—other than on the television—was also disappointing for a hotel of this category.
Despite these shortcomings, the atmosphere and service made for a pleasant stay. I especially enjoyed the souvenir shop and appreciated that the hotel has a renowned pastry chef, which was reflected in the quality of the desserts. With some modernization, this hotel could once again fully live up to its five-star rating."
