LA MAISON DES GORGES, with a garden and barbecue, is located next to the Birs River. It features a terrace and garden with views of the Birs River and the Gorges Mountains. It offers a well-equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, and toaster, as well as a bathroom with a walk-in shower and a flat-screen TV. It also features a living area and a fireplace. Guests can relax by the outdoor fireplace. Schaulager is 47 km away, while St. Jakob Park is 48 km away. Basel EuroAirport is 55 km away.

HISTORY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT: In 1980, the Prévôtoise section of the Swiss Alpine Club (CAS) opened the lodge. It is a very active section with nearly 600 members of all ages. In addition to organising mountain excursions, it promotes responsible behaviour in nature and its conservation, as well as the upkeep of its 153 mountain huts or lodges in Switzerland.
In 2024, they decided to sell the property, and it became the Maison des Gorges, while always maintaining the spirit of the CAS association.

*** DINOSAUR FOOTPRINT SITE:
In 2017, dinosaur footprints were discovered near the MAISON DES GORGES. They are approximately 152 million years old. They are embedded in the sediments of the Reu-Chenette Formation and are believed to belong to herbivorous dinosaurs. It was likely a Brachiosaurus that passed through millions of years ago. This dinosaur was between 25 and 30 metres long and weighed up to 20 metric tonnes. It is estimated that the average water temperature in summer at that time was 24 °C. The rocks (about 150 million years old) on which the brontosaurs left their footprints later hardened and assumed their current steep position during the folding of the Jurassic Mountains.
*** THE HIKING TRAILS are very different, but all are true natural gems. From above, the panorama and the view of the impressive Gorges are indescribable. The rock walls and forests have a special charm. There are eight trails, including hiking trails.
THE BIRSE RIVER is a tributary of the Rhine that flows through Moutier behind the house and continues through the stunning gorge known as THE GORGES OF MOUTIER.

*** THE SIKYPARK ZOO, an animal rescue park located in Crémines. It is 6.6 km from the house. It is easily accessible by car or train (stop “Crémines Zoo”). It features a variety of animals, including big cats, birds of prey, and reptiles, and is open year-round.
