It is very, very private and you won`t see a soul from your front deck or windows. Your suite features a large stone fireplace with a wood stove and leather sofa, wood beamed ceilings, and a 280 square foot country kitchen. It also has a separate TV area with a comfy sectional sofa and an extra large flat screen TV.

BBQ on the deck and enjoy indoors or out on one of our 2 large dining tables; or, head out to one of the many eateries on the island and enjoy some fresh Maine lobster, crab, or fresh fish! Sit by the fire pit after a long day of hiking Acadia National Park; which offers over 100 miles of nature trails with breathtaking views, or after touring one of the many quaint towns on Mount Desert Island.
Our location is just 10 minutes to Southwest Harbor and 15 minutes to Bar Harbor, the popular tourist destination on the edge of the sea with many quaint shops and restaurants to explore. Smell the crisp, clean sea air of the Atlantic Ocean at Sea Wall with a picnic lunch about 20 minutes away. Visit one of the Local Craft Fairs or Farmers Markets in multiple places on the island. It's only a short 9-minute walk to Long Pond where you can swim, stand up paddle, or rent a kayak or canoe and paddle to Rum Island. Also within walking distance is Somes-Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary on Somes Pond where you can drop in your kayak or take a mile-long nature hike. On a warm day, you can take a swim at nearby Echo Lake only 5 minutes away. Enjoy the Town Dock on the Atlantic Ocean in Somesville just a few minutes away. Also past the Pond`s End dock at Long Pond is Pretty Marsh Picnic area along the ocean's edge about 2 miles away. You could also take in a play at the Acadia Repertory Theatre or sit alongside Somes Sound by the Historic Somesville Bridge and Library where the resident Bald Eagle resides and watch various types of boats go by.
And of course, ACADIA NATIONAL PARK is all around you including over 120 miles of hiking, biking, cross country, and snowshoe trails with lakes and the ocean for swimming, fishing, and boating. Another great attraction is the carriage roads all around Acadia National Park... only 10 minutes away.

Very well appointed, comfortable, impeccably maintained property. Very quiet and private, but also convenient to all Mount Desert has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Tall Pines Retreat. Our only regret was not having more time to just unwind and relax on the fantastic deck. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay again, if in the area.
The location of this property was fantastic; tucked away and private but close enough to get to Acadia and Bar Harbor for our activities. It was quiet and a very relaxing place to hang out and relax. Greg was a great host, giving us some awesome food recomendations and was there for whatever we needed. 10/10 we will be recommending his place for friends and family, and will be looking for it the next time we come back!
Not only was the property and house beautiful and clean, but our host, Greg, went above and beyond to make our wedding week / vacation as smooth as possible. Would definitely recommend this location. All of our guests commented on how great it was when they would visit.
Charming, relaxing location with a wonderful view.
Just fell in love with this place from its charming, comfortable interior to its perfect deck and porch for enjoying the outdoors. Location is on the quiet side of Acadia National park which we loved. Greg is the perfect host with a wealth of information about the area. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
By far the cleanest place ever! The host Greg has a great eye for details. The furnishings were remarkable! If I had to criticize anything it didn't have any steak knives. I'm sure when Greg reads this he will add some steak knives to the already well furnished kitchen.
Greg's property was beautiful, and I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the property. It was peaceful, relaxing, comfortable, and in a great location on the island. Greg was super nice when we met him. We would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay so much! Quiet mornings on the porch, drinking coffee and watching the animals on the pond were a great way to start the day. The location offered privacy and quiet but also great, easy access to Acadia. The owner was friendly and helpful. We would absolutely love to visit again!
This property was beautiful and perfect for our stay visiting Acadia National Park! An easy drive to the park and to Bar Harbor. There was plenty of room to spread out and to cook dinners. We enjoyed the tranquility in the mornings and the stargazing at night!
The property was perfect for us. We're celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary (without kids). It's nice to be close to hiking and kayaking but the quiet mornings on the deck and the starlit evenings around the fire really made it special for us.
This property is centrally located on Mt. Desert island. The setting is beautiful and quiet. Perfect for 2 people.
Highly recommend!!

Lovely pondside cottage
This cottage has a spectacular view of a small pond surrounded by marshes and then forest. Solid kitchen but not really well provisioned. Bed comfy. Bathroom extremely cramped but functional.
Location is convenient to everything. Back deck is great to chill on in the evenings and the silence was so amazing. Bed was super comfy and a lot bigger than expected. Having a washer and dryer was incredibly useful.
We really enjoyed our stay at the large lower level of this beautiful home. There was lots of space, both indoor and outdoor, and the place was very private and clean. Once we saw how busy Bar Harbor was, we were glad to be staying on the quiet side of the island. Thanks for sharing your place with us!
The home was situated in a great area of Acadia, close to bar harbor and to Southwest harbor. The home was clean, had everything we needed, and was situated on a beautiful pond. Greg was available if we needed him and very kind. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Tall Pines. It was a cozy but very ample space located on a quiet and lovely piece of land. If you are looking to escape for quiet hiking or biking, this is your spot! (Greg is also a wonderful host - available but not intrusive). We would definitely stay again!
Conveniently located near many Acadia attractions, this place was a nice respite from the crowds and congestion in Bar Harbor as well as the park. The location is clean, well maintained and picturesque. The host responds in a timely fashion and is easy to do business with. I would recommend this to a friend and would stay here again if the opportunity presented itself.
We really enjoyed this property and the area. Greg was a great host; available, responsive and excellent recommendations for activities and restaurants! The setting is very peaceful and serene and the location is very convenient to all things in and around Acadia. And as we learned when a rough storm came through on our last night, equipped with a backup generator! Highly recommend, we'll definitely return next time we are in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Greg's lovely retreat. Everything was very clean and the kitchen is well-appointed. We enjoyed breakfasts and dinners on the patio overlooking the gorgeous view of the pond and trees. There are lots of hiking trails nearby and Bar Harbor is only about 20 minutes away. We'd happily stay here again. Thanks Greg!
Tall Pines Retreat is the ideal setup for anyone looking to enjoy Acadia National Park and the surrounding area without the chaos and stress associated with Bar Harbor. Sunrises, stary nights, relaxed environment ... what vacations are supposed to be!
Tall pines was an absolute pleasure to stay at. Greg the host was a gracious host and gave helpful suggestions of hikes and places to eat on the island. Tall pines was so cozy and relaxing we chose to eat breakfast and dinner there every night. Afterwards we had a fire in the backyard listening to the frogs, owls and watching the lighting bugs. Its location is in the middle of everything you would want to do in Acadia national park but less crowded. I highly recommend.
This awesome place is just as advertised. Outstanding view out your windows every morning! And it is located in a very quiet area, but still close enough to access the amazing Acadia Nationals Park. Highly recommend! And the host is very, very nice and super accommodating… although you rarely ever hear or see him. 🍁❤️
We had a great stay at Tall Pines. Greg was very accommodating and friendly. We had to reschedule/postpone our visit due to a family emergency and we had no issues doing that, which was such a relief. We loved the peace and quiet at the property and it was still an easy drive (~20 minutes) to most attractions. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, and the back deck was wonderful! Definitely recommend!
We had a lovely stay at Tall Pines. The views over the pond and woodlands are spectacular, and the proximity to all of MDI is unparalleled. We enjoyed hiking, biking, and kayaking.
The kitchen is particularly well-stocked with pots and pans and such, which was nice for some light cooking we did a few nights (scallops from Parsons:).
The suite is in a quiet secluded area but it is under the main residence of the owner. We are light sleepers at the end of our sleep cycle and were woken up most days by either the owner, plumbing noises, or a dog gently walking around between 5-530 a.m. (we never heard anybody at any other time).
We also would have enjoyed a larger bed (it is a double) given how large the room is.
Still, we highly recommend Tall Pines for the helpful owner, lovely spot, and super-convenient location.
