We were gutted to stay just one night as we did not want to leave. We were urged to stay at the ATKV but decided to try this. True, the pool and hot (ish?) pool is small but the zebra’s, giraffes and other animals wandering through the chalets made up for any of it. It was also quiet and relaxing. So if you want fun, higher energy stay i would go across the road to Klein Kariba but if you want truly relaxing and enjoying a quiet fire, animals etc then this is it." We dreamt of days and nights on the porch listening to the birds and watching the animals by the water hole but instead our entire trip was ruined by building works. We felt like we were right in the middle of a building site and all we could hear the entire trip was hammering, drilling, machinery and workmen so there was no chance of any relaxation and the building works scared away any animals that might have come to drink at the watering hole. The bathroom was also filthy on arrival - the toilet and sink had not been cleaned before our stay. We complained to management and nothing was done. We booked this trip in January and stayed in August so the lodge had plenty of time to inform us before our stay that there were building works happening during our trip and they didn't.
