The staff, food, and proximity to wildlife/wilderness are all outstanding. Anyone looking to head off into the last great frontier should have a stay at the Summit Lake Lodge for a night or two. Recommend renting the lakefront cabins, as waking up to a cup of coffee in bed with incredible views helps start any day with a smile. The king bed was a dream! Loved the bathroom shower and separate sink areas. The gas fireplace was great to take away the evening chill. Numerous breakfast options were included in stay. Evening dining can be purchased in lodge restaurant, or pizza, ice cream and a few gifts are available in parlor. You can choose to canoe, kayak, paddleboard on the lake. This facility is centrally located for day visits to Seward and Girdwood. Amazing location! Absolutely incredible experience! This family owned lodge hits every right note. From the very nice, well appointed cabins, to the friendly staff, Summit Lodge was awesome. Best of all is the amazing central location to all of the sites of the Kanai Peninsula. Beautifully situated on a stunning lake with gorgeous mountains in the background. We didn’t want to leave our cabin as it was just too nice to leave. To top it off, our stay included a wonderful made to order breakfast each morning. We’ve stayed in a lot of great places all over the world and Summit Lake Lodge ranks at the top. The cabins were awesome. A very nice and updated hotel room (great bathrooms and very comfortable beds) in an Alaska feel cabin and cool resort atmosphere. We loved kayaking the lake, played a little cornhole and horse shoes and had an overall marvelous stay. Very close to great fishing spots. The restaurant was great and by far the best hotel included breakfast I’ve ever had. The family that runs it is very helpful and gave us several good recommendations for activities in the area. They genuinely seemed to want us to have an enjoyable stay. The staff was very kind. The setting is beautiful; we appreciated the complimentary kayaks and paddle boards for the lake. Restaurant served good food and snack shop had good service. Lake was beautiful and quiet. No cell service, no internet in cabins, but available (albeit hit and miss connectivity) in the lobby only. The location is wonderful, peaceful, we did some fishing off of the lake. We took advantage of the kayaks they offer and it was just spectacular views. We are family of six we stayed in the lodge that had the three individual rooms looks like a cabin, the beds were incredibly comfortable. all the rooms had coffee, machines, microwave, and fridge. The property is absolutely beautiful and enjoyable. I wish we had stayed there even longer because we enjoyed it so much.
