Staff were really friendly and bar was nice but a bit pricey.Breakfast was great and worth the extra to booking. Location is great for local shops and transport links. "We felt unsafe and would suggest it would be a good idea to have an emergency number to phone. No staff about except check in when he changed the room from the number we were sent beforehand with the code, no explanation and we had to go next door looking for it ourself. From 3 am there were people running along the corridor, banging on doors and shouting. A woman was shouting followed by list of arguing and shouting from several quarters. When we were sure everyone had settled we crept out and left before 8 am. We noted the front door was not locked."

"The hotel is an old inn in Johnshaven, a fishing village at least 10 miles outside of Montrose, in Aberdeenshire not Angus. Lovely setting near the harbour. The family room had a double bed and two single beds in a separate section. Shower room was small but well maintained. A small heater kept the room warm which was good because the weather was terrible on the first day. The bar/ dining area was lovely, the staff were all super and the food was excellent. Seafood was a speciality although there was a wide choice of dishes. People obviously came from all round to eat there and there was a lively atmosphere. We would certainly go back."
