Be sure to stop in for amazing food and drink, as well as souvenirs! The staff is very friendly, and even though we were there in the winter, we took advantage of the rooftop pool area for some sunshine and relaxation. The entire staff—from the front desk, to housekeeping, to the maintenance men—simply could not have been friendlier or more accommodating! The location is super convenient to the port for BuqueBus ferries, and the hotel overlooks the old Port Market. The room was spacious, if a bit dated. Hot water in abundance, walk-in shower, bed was okay not stellar. NEG’s: Bed on a platform not well supported, lack of attention to detail, light fixtures don’t work, odds and ends broken or in disrepair, dust bunnies abound, soundproofing inadequate, they play Muzak in the common areas from 7 am onwards. I do give them credit for trying to make it at that location in the otherwise forgotten and slowly gentrifying Cuidad Vieja. I complained about being bitten in the unkempt first room I was assigned. No attempt to move me until I packed up and said I’d write a bad Expedia review. The Hotel is located near the port, in front to the Mercado del Puerto, a place call Ciudad Vieja (Old City) a nice and tourist Market with restaurants and gifts shops. In the night the area arround the Hotel is not so beauty as it is at daylight. Nothing to complain about the Hotel, the surroundings has many walking streets with restaurants, pubs and other ammenities, but you have to be carefull in the night. Like any other tourist area. Complimentary breakfast was really nice and the staff were all very friendly. Helped us get a SIM card set up and get bikes rented for a ride around Montevideo. Location is great - right in old town Montevideo and right next to Mercado del Puerto - a must see!
