Surrounded by the forest the house is set off the ground and has huge windows to give it spectacular views of the forest canopy and Nicoya Gulf. Big rooms and Queen size beds provide comfort, plus all the essentials and more are provided. The house is large enough for a family but also perfect for a couples romantic get-away. Located close to town but extremely private it is ideal as a base to enjoy all of Monteverdes attractions and is an attraction in itself that provides the peace to rest after a full day of activities. As mentioned the house is located on a large property, there are other rent houses on the property but out of shouting distance to provide each with privacy. Just up the road from the property there are several restaurants, a couple small supermarkets, art galleries and souvenir shops. Also in the area there are several attractions such as private reserves, a butterfly garden, night tours and others. The space The house is located on a 27 acre property which guests can explore as they wish, providing them the opportunity to see lots of the local flora and fauna without having to book a tour or drive anywhere. Interaction with guests Our hostess will confirm your reservation, meet you for check in and help with any questions you might have about the house, the area, tour options, dining suggestions on anything else you might need. We will leave you to yourself once checked in but are available at any moment for any questions or help you may need. Other things to note As a note the sofa bed lacks privacy because it is located in the living area but not comfort since it has a double bed mattress on it. Plenty of space, rooms are very nice, located near to several attractions, downtown area is a few minutes drive. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped.It’s close enough to walk into the town of Monteverde and minutes to all of the excursions.We had monkeys visit our balcony and the view is incredible. It had everything we needed and more. The views were spectacular, and the property was close to town but secluded at the same time. Daniela was a great host. She was always quick to respond to our questions and to provide recommendations. She also assisted with booking various activities for us. Our favorite was the night tour with George! It was very nice and a perfect base for our trip. The home is very well taken care of, with an excellent outdoor space. There were animals close by that gave a great nature feel. The playground/park outside is a lot of fun and very unique. The location is slightly off the path, though we were able to walk easy enough to the store and restaurants. ##### Philip L. Daniela was very communicative, and sent great directions, including a very helpful video - without it, we might have still been wandering around the rainforest. The house is just a few minutes from town but feels like it’s tucked away, and we were able to see plenty of wildlife from the back balcony. Enough space for all of us, and the washer/dryer was a huge bonus so we could throw in a load of laundry. The pictures don’t do this house justice. It’s beautiful inside and the nature outside is incredible. Small touches like including coffee, tea, board games and the yoga mat make this an exceptional Vrbo property. Daniela is exceptional with communication and arrangements. The only place I don’t go to 5 points is location and that’s only because of the road quality to get there. We had a high clearance, 2 wheel drive and still got bounced around. Mom, Dad, Son, and Son's fiance. Staying at Above the Gulf house was a perfect place to begin our adventure! The house is unique and beautifully appointed. The view from the balcony drew us outside every afternoon. But what made it extra special was Daniela, our contact person. We would absolutely stay again at this house. The view was breathtaking, the house was clean, Daniela was so helpful and very responsive. She met us when we checked in and she is just lovely. It is a bit hard to find but she was so helpful in getting us there that once we found it, we had no issues going in and out. The house is very roomy and can fit at least 5-6 comfortably.
