"We stayed during September, when temperatures reached the early to mid-30sC.There were a few issues. We found ants on the kitchen work surfaces, so everything had to be kept in the fridge. Insect screens on the windows, and the front door, would be useful.The bed linen wasn't great. White sheets would look much nicer than the coloured, mismatched bedding, which appeared rather tatty. However, the bed was very comfortable.The bedroom air-conditioning unit is noisy, making it difficult to sleep with it switched on. Given the high temperatures, this was a problem. The poolside furniture also needs replacing, as it is worn and some items are broken.A few provisions could be improved. Two bin bags are not enough for a week, while the toilet and kitchen rolls were poor quality. A small welcome pack, perhaps including Monchique water, coffee pods for the machine, and local wine or beer, would be a lovely touch.Despite this, we had a wonderful stay. The house is old, charming and full of character. Kitchen is well equipped. Bathroom shower is excellent. Location is perfect, a few minutes’ drive from Monchique. It is quiet, relaxing and secluded, with outstanding views and a wonderful sense of privacy. The private pool was fabulous and lovely to return to after a day out.We enjoyed evenings on the terrace, barbecuing, stargazing and watching the lizards.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return. With a few simple improvements this could be an exceptional place to stay."

"Stunning setting, peaceful and relaxing. Very well equipped property, beautiful Moroccan elements. A uniquely put together interior - thoughtful, functional and interesting, should grace the pages of any house style/interiors publication. It’s very much a home with soul. The garden is beautiful, with careful planning and lovely planting, which we really appreciated.We also very much enjoyed the games - boules, Mölkky, table tennis and the pool of course. Recommend the walk up through the trees to the fire watch tower, go back on the road toward Monchique (down and up about 500m) and pick up the marked trail up a track on the right. About 50 minutes to the top.The owner and the house manager were always very responsive and helpful"

"The room is spacious and has lovely views. Unfortunately; it was not as clean as we had expected. The resort is lovely but tired and in need of maintenance and touch ups. I would definitely rate it as four stars, not five. The staff are lovely."

"This is such a lovely villa in a quiet, beautiful part of Portugal. If you're looking for sleek and modern this won't be for you but if you're looking for rustic charm then you've come to the right place. The villa is quirky and spotlessly clean with a beautiful deep pool and endless fruit-filled gardens. The villa has everything you need and Eulalila was so very helpful. Both coasts are within easy reach by car and there are beautiful walks nearby. We would definitely come back."

"Beautiful villa, very clean. Kitchen extremely well equipped with everything you could need. The master bedroom is very spacious with a super king, very comfy bed. Other en suite room upstairs, and 2 twin rooms downstairs all well equipped with plenty of storage and lots of hangers. Pool was lovely, and a great size for a family of 8. Sunbeds could do with an upgrade, but the dining area is lovely.The pool table , table tennis and table football were such a great bonus , and were brilliant for keeping us entertained on a rainy afternoon.Lena, the property manager was excellent- great fast communication, and very helpful when resolving a couple of issues following a power cut. Definitely need to hire a car, as there is not much in walking distance. Alvor is the closest town (15 mins in the car), and is well worth a visit - lovely restaurants , bars and shops. Plenty of supermarkets 10-15 mins drive. Zoo Marine & Splash & Slide are great days out with kids.The 7 Hanging valleys walk along the cliff tops near Benagil was beautiful on a cooler day. Fantastic 2 weeks stay - thank you very much Simon."

"We had an absolute 5/5 stay in Monchique!From the moment we arrived, the authentic Portuguese feel made the whole experience special and grounded. The location couldn't have been better,it was so convenient to town, making it effortless to get around and explore. Plus, the views are completely breathtaking, a massive highlight of our stay.We also noticed past reviews mentioning issues with the hot water, but for us, the hot water worked perfectly.Huge shoutout to the hosts as well. The support both over the phone and locally on the ground was incredible, very responsive, helpful, and attentive whenever we needed anything.Couldn't have asked for a better start to our trip. Highly recommend staying here if you want an authentic, seamless Monchique experience."
