Kerry Lane Motel

Kerry Lane Motel

10/10 Excellent
"Nice spacious unit with everything you need. The TV was small and just free to air stations but I believe they are in the middle of upgrading TVs to all room. The motel apparently has spectacular views to Mt Taranaki but unfortunately there was too much fog and cloud during my visit to see it. Would definitely stay again if visiting Hawera"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Moeawatea?
The best area to stay in Moeawatea, for those seeking convenient access to the region's natural beauty and a comfortable base, is typically near the small settlements along the Moeawatea River or closer to the coastal towns that offer more established facilities. For travellers looking for a tranquil escape with direct access to hiking and nature, staying in a lodge or holiday home directly within the Moeawatea Valley itself is ideal. This area is characterised by its rugged, bush-clad hills and the meandering Moeawatea River. It's a remote location, offering true seclusion and opportunities for outdoor activities like fly-fishing or bushwalking. This is great for couples or solo travellers who want to disconnect and enjoy the unspoiled New Zealand wilderness, with properties often featuring stunning views and a sense of peaceful isolation.Alternatively, for those who prefer a balance of natural beauty and easier access to amenities, staying in a coastal town like Ōpunake, located about an hour's drive from the heart of Moeawatea, is a good option. Ōpunake offers a wider range of accommodation, from boutique hotels to holiday rentals, along with local shops and eateries. From here, you can easily take day trips into the Moeawatea Valley for exploration, while returning to a town with more conveniences in the evenings.
When is the best time to go to Moeawatea?
The best time to visit Moeawatea is during the warmer months, from late spring (November) through early autumn (April), when the weather is most pleasant for exploring the region.During these months, you'll generally experience milder temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and enjoying the natural landscapes of the Taranaki region. The days are longer, allowing for more time to explore the coastlines, national parks, and local attractions without the chill of winter. For those planning to spend time outdoors, perhaps exploring the Egmont National Park or enjoying the beaches, the peak of summer (December to February) offers the warmest and sunniest conditions. This period is great for families or couples looking to make the most of the natural beauty and engage in water sports or extensive day trips. If you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds, particularly if you're a couple looking for a peaceful retreat, the shoulder seasons of November and April are excellent choices.
