A wonderful stay. The morning service at the temple was a profound experience. The introduction to zazen was great, though Japanese speakers will get most out of this - ditto the lecture before morning service. The meals were excellent, and everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. All together, this short stay was a true highlight of my month in Japan. If you’re staying over a Tuesday, you should be aware that (all?) the restaurants in Eiheiji village seem to close on that day. I’m sure...

Excellent staff and facilities! 3rd Dormy inn I’ve stayed in during this trip. Hospitality here was the best. I give highest praise to the dine-in staff serving the free Ramen in the evening - cheerful even late at night and great ramen! The hotel is about 6-7 minutes away from Fukui station. Convenient for those taking the Echizen to see the Tojinbo/Oshima and Dino-museum (a must). Also about 8 minutes away from Europa-Ken birthplace of the Sauce-Katsura. The Onsen facilities were top-notch...
