Communication was excellent. We spent two nights visiting family on our way to Florida. The accommodations were outstanding. The block and a half to walk to the beach was fabulous. As we were visiting in late November we had the beach all to ourselves. We will definitely stay here again.
Two families staying together for father's day weekend and we had a really lovely time. The house was great with a surprisingly well-equipped kitchen and the host was super helpful and the instructions were all clear. Beach was a short walk away and the neighborhood is nice as could be. Thumbs up, do recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at Broadkill Beach. The house was great. Just as described on the listing. The master shower is huge and it's very welcome after a day out on the beach. Only 20 minutes from DE Turf fields, which is the reason we were in DE. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for four nights in the middle of the week in mid-October. Highly recommend! It was very comfortable for us. I loved being able to walk to the beach, but then also being among the trees when sitting on the porch. We cooked all of our meals at the cottage, enjoyed sitting in the sunroom, and slept well in the comfortable bed. It is not too far of a drive to the grocery store in Milton, and also not far to drive to Lewes and Rehoboth for a day trip. We would definitely stay again!
The house was very comfortable - well equipped kitchen was appreciated - easy walk to the beach - no bugs - nice relaxing weekend. we appreciated that it was pet friendly and not a dump - nice house - one suggestion for improving would be to add or move a gate to the front steps of the porch so that pets could be let out into the back yard more easily and they could hang out on the porch with their people. Thanks for sharing your house and beach with us.
We had a great time staying in this house on Broadkill Beach. The house was nicely located a block from the beach, had a great kitchen, comfortable beds, a large assortment of games (which my kids loved), and really everything you could need! The host was very responsive when there was an issue with the water (not their fault! A work crew had shut off water to the area) even calling the utility company to follow up on when the water would be turned on. We really enjoyed Broadkill Beach area -- nice a quiet and a lovely getaway!
Great location just a short walk to the beach. The house had lots of fun games, cards, books, kitchen items, and a very peaceful vibe. Perfect for our group of 6. Sheets, towels, and beach chairs made it very convenient. The owner responded quickly to questions and was very helpful. Look for dolphins on the beach and a grey fox in the neighborhood. We had not been to Broadkill Beach before and really enjoyed the natural, laid back atmosphere. We did not want to leave.
Julie's beach cottage was perfect for myself, my wife, our dog, and infant son. Plenty of space - it would be a great fit for two couples with younger kids, or a family plus a set of grandparents. Kitchen had more than enough cookware, though it wasn't stocked with any pantry staples beyond salt and pepper. The front room which presumably used to be a porch was very cozy for evening television/family time. House was neat and clean, everything we used was in good working order.
Very short walk and easy access to the nice beach (on the bay). No lifeguard on the beach near the property.
Bring plenty of bug spray and some lightweight long sleeves, you will use them, even in the middle of summer. 30 minute drive to Rehoboth to get your boardwalk time in.
I Highly recommend Big Oyster Brewing for food and drinks.
If you're looking for a low-key beach getaway, this property is a great way to go!
We must say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Julie was quick to respond and very accommodating. Upon entry the home was extremely clean and stocked with the necessary kitchen accessories. We spent our first day @ the Cape Henlopen State Park beach, which was extremely crowded, so we decided to spend the remainder of our beach time on Broadkill Beach where the water was warmer and our extremely shy dog was able to cope with the serenity. Taught the granddaughters shore fishing on Broadkill beach which produced a fish just about every cast, they loved it. We used DART Park and Ride to spend one night on the boardwalk getting into the action without having to worry about traffic or parking. We also utilized the abundant game boards that were provided. I could go on but needless to say we created many family memories @ this serene beach cottage. As Bob Hope would always end a show by saying "Thanks for the memories" we also are echoing his same heart felt ending.

Problems
Some serious issues. Dining room rug curled on all edges. Terrible tripping hazard. Had to move table and arrange chairs so we didnt kill ourselves. Door knob on storm door loose. No tools to fix. Outside shower hydrant frozen. Day we left pouring rain, no gutter at front door..soaked. no water last morning. NO emergency contact numbers anywhere. Swimming with jelly fish very unpleasant and painful...still. outdoor umbrella broken so no shade sitting outside. Nice linens, nice house, nice beds..
Charming beach house in great location. Great host
This house is exactly as described.
An older beach house, about 4 houses and an impromptu wood slat path's walk from Broadkill Beach.
The real hardwood floors, small rooms and narrow doors also hint to the age of the property, but also are key to its charm.
This is not to say the house is without updates. The kitchen and master bathroom are nicely updated, and the massive butcher-block dining table suggests a full complement of guests could easily eat and play in the dining area.
A sunroom extension has been added. A window AC unit keeps the room comfortable as it will heat up pretty quickly, which it can be a tad loud if you are trying to watch things in the evening.
The neighbours are hit or miss, in our experience, which likely relates to whether they live there or are other vacationing renters. However, you didn't have too many to deal with.
The host is great, responsive and keeps the house well cleaned, and reasonably stocked with cups, cutlery, pans, etc.
Broadkill is a secluded, wild beach with only really locals walking around. Dogs are usually off leash, so be careful with your furry friends as some of those dogs aren't well behaved.
Broadkill DOES have jellyfish near the shore. Better for walking, picking up shells, sunbathing and listening to the waves rather than jumping in the water.
Fear not, tho. Rehoboth and Dewey Beach are near, for boardwalks, parties and tourists. Cape Henlopen is even closer ($$) for quiet, groomed, less crowded beach.
