I felt safe there but unfortunately I spotted roaches on 2 occasions of my stay. The first time was in the shower and the host sent his cleaner to remove it a few hours later. There was another occasion where I was cleaning the kitchen area and after one spray a tiny iguana came out from the crack of the stove. Book at your own risk of pests. I hope the host clears the problem before offering the place again. I left 3 nights early because of the second roach sighting.
