Great staff, great location; disappointing resort
I live in Miami and had family visiting that we’re staying at this hotel - so we booked a room to spend time with them in SOBE. In the spirit of keeping this review mostly positive, I’d like to start with the high points of the stay; the staff was helpful, engaging, and really incredible and the location of the hotel is prime.
That said, that’s where the positivity stops. The Crescent calls itself a “resort” and in turn, charges a resort fee - as most hotels in SOBE do. Unfortunately, this hotel is the furthest from a resort; there are zero amenities; no pool, no restaurant, no bar, no room service, no gym, no on premises valet (third party valet is available), no vouchers for umbrellas or chairs on the beach. For your resort fee, I was told I received free WIFI, a towel if I chose to go to the beach, and a room safe. Really?
Our room was a suite, but was very utilitarian and somewhat tired in its decor and finished. Loving restoring an Art Deco hotel would have been preferable to the 80s refurb that the rooms have undergone.
And did I mention that check out time is 10am? Certainly not standard; most hotels in the area offer 11am or even 12pm checkout times.
Having stayed at many hotels in South Beach, I really had expected more from this property.
I won’t stay here again but I do want to thank the staff for being lovely and making the stay somewhat tolerable.
