What I love most about my stay was the relaxed, quiet atmosphere. A perfect place to unwind after a busy summer hosting children's enrichment camps. Loved my time and everything was perfect!
Our long weekend at the cottage was fantastic! It's the perfect size for two adults and two kids, has all the amenities you'll need, and provides the best firewood we've ever had. Sandy is a great host who's there for you when you need her (including mailing bluetooth speakers you dropped under the bed to you!) and off-hands when you're just having a good time. The place strikes the perfect balance between remote peacefulness and accessibility to things to do during the day. Love it!
Very nice cottage. Bed was nice and comfortable. Enjoyed the lake...kayaking,canoeing, paddle boat and fishing. Also recommend the Mission Tavern which is close by for pizza and bacon cheeseburgers.
We really enjoyed the quiet & the view. We saw so many birds & there's a local beaver that comes by along the shoreline a couple times a day! We even got to watch the Perseid meteor shower from the dock.
We stayed at Pine Cone Cottage for a much needed getaway. It was perfect! Sandy was very accommodating and friendly. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. Sitting by the water, watching water fowl was so relaxing. Seeing the northern lights was a plus! We would definitely stay again!
Pine Cone Cottage was the perfect stay for a late summer get away! Everything met all of my expectations and more. Sandy was a wonderful host and made things so easy from check in to check out...and the cottage is beautiful. Loved the lake and spending the day in Nisswa. Great seafood boil at B Merri's in Brainerd. Definitely looking forward to coming back again!.
What a beautiful property—secluded, private, fully stocked and charmingly furnished. Plenty of critters to observe, including a beaver. We were sorry to leave after a week, could have done a month.
The property was very clean and beautifully decorated; such attention to detail. The owner, Sandy, was so welcoming and sweet. Despite the rain, we had a great fall getaway to recharge and refresh. The small little towns surrounding the Merrifield/Brainard area were so fun to explore and enjoy local art and delicacies. A wonderful trip in a wonderful space!
Perfect lodging for us. Furnishings were as described and very comfortable. Nature setting. We saw beaver, trumpeter swans, loons, and ducks. Fished when we felt like it. Sandy was an excellent host. We will be back.
We loved the beautiful clear water and seeing loons and eagles daily. The cottage was clean and worked well for us. I would recommend bringing any spices you need with you, if you plan to cook while there, and coffee if you’re a coffee drinker. Otherwise, it had everything we needed. Our host was kind and helpful, and lives next door.
This cozy cottage has everything you need. I stayed for 5 nights and never really left. Cooked all my meals there. There's a nice gas grill and a charcoal grill. It was so quiet and peaceful, the only thing you hear is nature. Sandy is very accommodating and responsive to any of your needs. This is the perfect place if you're looking to relax and unwind and enjoy nature.
The cabin is exactly as pictured — cozy and perfectly appointed. Sandy was BEYOND responsive to my questions! Every night I would open all the windows and listen to the sounds of nature, including owls and loons. Sitting in front of the “nature lake” and appreciating the swans … having the blue heron fly immediately behind me, so close I could hear its wings … sitting on the dock overlooking the lake … it was truly a magical visit. Highly recommend.
If you’re goal is to enjoy all that nature has to offer, or if you just want to visit small towns read a book and drink tea, either way Pinecone Cottage is a great place to stay. Sandy, whose residence is next door, was very accommodating, helping us out with suggestions for local activities and resources. The paddle boat is an excellent way to explore the lake or even fish from. We also rented the motorboat, which was in great shape and easy to use. The cabin is centrally located making trips into Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, or Crosslakes equally accessible. If you need larger city accommodations, Brainerd isn’t far either. Overall highly recommend Pinecone Cottage and would definitely rebook.
The property was all about norther Minnesota's forest and lake beauty. I came to a gracious and warm welcome. Sandy answered all my questions and gave me a clear tour. Everything I wanted/needed was here! The quiet, the stars, the lake breeze, the comfort and style of this place immediately made me feel welcome and at home. I want to return! I will need it!
We had a great time at the Pine Cone Cottage. It is a beautiful property with a lot of wildlife! We were greeted by deer each time we came and went on the driveway, and some wild turkeys checked out the trunk of our car while packing up to leave. The property is not nearly as secluded/private as advertised with the host's home closer than my next-door neighbor in town. Sandy was kind and respectful so this wasn't a huge deal - we were just very surprised by this. The home was clean and had everything we needed for a weekend to get away for a re-charge.
Stayed 3 nights. Enjoyed the birds, seeing the work of the beavers, took the canoe out. Read books sitting on the dock. The lake is small, private and quiet. No loud jet skis and speed boats disrupting your peace and quiet. We watched two DVDs they had on site one night. What a special treat that was. We didn't cook much but the kitchen seemed well stocked. Well stocked bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Lots of seating options in the living room. The chairs on the deck are comfortable to sit on also. Such a close drive to the busier towns of Brainerd, Nisswa and Breezy Point. Perfect for day trips for shopping and dining. The cottage has a lake on both sides. Fire pits on both sides. Private driveway. The owners live next door. It was absolutely everything we hoped it would be and we will recommend it to friends and family. What a slice of heaven.
This property was just what our family was looking for. We have a 6 and 2 year old and it was perfect for them. Sandy is a great host. We will visit this property again.
