Burro y Flauta is a vacation property rental and management company owned and operated by ex-pats from the U.S. who have made Merida our home. We have traveled a lot and stayed in a variety of properties around the world, so we know what you need and want from your vacation property. Allow us to help make your visit to Merida perfect! Burro y Flauta owns and manages several other vacation homes in the historical center of Merida (between 1-5 bedrooms); please check them all out! Check-in & Check-out: Check in is available after 3pm. Check out is before 11am. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability at the sole discretion of the host. Early check-in availability is determined on the day of arrival and is a free courtesy to our guests. If you need a late check-out, then we might be able to permit it depending on the needs of our next guest, but we will charge a late check-out fee. General Rules: 1\. To book this space, you must be at least 21 years of age. 2\. The name on the reservation must match the person staying in the house. To verify, we may require a photo of ID of all people entering the property. 3\. Quiet hours are observed from 10pm to 8am on the interior and exterior of the property. The purpose of quiet hours is to maintain a quiet and comfortable environment for all guests and neighbors. 4\. No smoking inside the space. If a guest is found smoking or evidence of smoking is found after check-out there is a $500 USD fine. You may smoke on the exterior patios granted you use the provided ash trays. 5\. Please only flush toilet paper down the toilet. 6\. An excessive cleaning fee of a minimum of $75 USD will apply to any reservation which caused excessive cleaning services to be rendered. 7\. Guests are responsible for any breakage or damage to the property. Fees: \- The fee for overnight visitors above a total of 2 guests is $300 pesos per person per night. Any additional guests require prior approval from the host. \- One small (under 15kg) pet is welcome, but the guest is responsible for all damage caused by their pets. An extra pet fee of USD$75 will be charged. \- Electricity is included for stays of 2 weeks or less; and for stays of longer than 2 weeks, no electricity is charged unless the usage greater is USD$3 a day for the 1BR or 2BR homes, or USD$5 a day for the larger homes. \- For rentals in excess of 1 week, weekly cleaning as well as pool maintenance will be provided at no extra charge. Contact us if you are interested in additional cleaning for an extra fee. \- Lost key or electric key fob will result in a US$20 charge. Lost garage door device will result in a US$200 charge. \- We are not responsible for any left items after check-out. If we do have to ship an item, there is a minimum of $50 (depending on the size of the items) shipping fee by host plus the shipping company cost to ship the item. It may take up to 14 days before we can ship the items. Additional Notes: To keep the pool clean and maintained during your stay and for future guests, our pool staff is scheduled to service the pool twice per week. The total service should take 30 minutes to 1 hour. Merida is a hot and humid climate, and this climate tends to host insects. As a result, you may see insects in the house. We do monthly extermination to try to prevent problems but it's not a perfect solution. We also supply bug spray and citronella candles to assist. We are not responsible for any items brought into or left at the house. If you believe that you left something in the house after your departure, then please let us know. We will verify whether we have the item and share our office address so that you may pick it up. We will store any such items in our ‘Lost and Found’ located in our office for 30 days. If no one has come to claim those items within the 30 days, then we will dispose of it. Furniture and décor from pictures may differ. We are always upgrading and improving the look and feel of our property for the comfort and pleasure of our guests. Casa Gatita was perfect relative to my needs. The place is a fully renovated colonial home. Everything in it was modern and comfortable. The plunge pool was particularly excellent after a hot day or exploration. I would stay again and recommend the place to anyone who seeks a home-like refuge while in Merida. ##### Marjan O. My husband and I came for a weekend and LOVED this little house! We appreciated all of the extra amenities and the plunge pool. Air Con worked great, as well as fans. The barrio Santiago is a great place to stay to enjoy Merida. Many places of interest nearby. There were problems with the water, but Beto handled them immediately, so we didn't mind. Close to Mercado de Santiago and easy walking distance to centro restaurants. Garage is a certain plus for those with a car. Cleaning and pool service bi- weekly was perfect for our needs. If it was available for longer we would have gladly stayed. The managment team was awesome to deal with, I would and will use them in the future. Nice layout, comfortable furniture. The service was excellent. Any time we needed something or had a questions, someone was there almost before we put the phone down. We would have like a bigger yard, but again it was big enough for us to have quiet meals outside next to the pool. All in all, we felt completely at home. We enjoyed our time there. It was close to everywhere we wanted to be. Uber got us around everywhere we were right in Centro . We loved being able to wash our cloths. I want the same exact washer and dryer it works so good. What ever we needed it was there at the house. Customer service was excellent. We will be back to stay again. The main floor is a garage, an entrance hall, one common room of kitchen, living and a courtyard with a small pool. Upstairs one bedroom and bath. The Santiago market 2 blocks away is good for fresh fruit and veg as well as market restaurants. It’s perfect for a couple. The pool is small but was great for a dip to cool off on a warm afternoon. The kitchen was well equipped including decent knives! Coffee, salt, pepper and olive oil were provided. (It’s always frustrating to have to buy those things for a short stay) The garage is handy, only compact cars will fit. The online guidebook they provide is the best I’ve ever seen for a rental! Casa Gatita is hands down one of the BEST vacation homes I have stayed in. I worked remotely for the week of my stay and can say everything went seamlessly. WIFI was always excellent. Manager Beto kept in constant contact with me to ensure I was comfortable and answered any questions or concerns I had. I can't say enough positive things about the Burro y Flauta team. You are within walking distance to several restaurants and bakeries. I highly recommend Pan Elena Vales. I purchased fresh pastries from them daily. About a 5 min walk from the casa. IMO, the casa is perfect for a solo travel, or a couple. Lots of space between the two levels, and I loved the decor of the entire. I appreciated all of the unique art and furniture throughout. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom itself was extremely spacious. Also, it was nice to have a half bath on the ground level, in additon to the main shower/restroom down the hall from the bedroom. Cooking was a breeze. Excellent coffee maker. The AC units and ceiling fans were a godsend. Not to mention the wonderful private pool. The laundry room was perfect for preparing my clothes for my trip home after my 2 weeks in Quintana Roo and the Yucatan. I would 1000% percent stay at Casa Gatita again, as well as any other property ran by this company. They are fantastic people. My one recommendation for improvement would be to have the sectional cushions re-stuffed. Parts of the sectional have a sinking aspect to the seat. ##### Kevin B. It is a beautiful home and very well appointed and maintained. The location is great and within walking distance or a quick DiDi ride (like uber) to everything downtown. It's also on a quiet street which was nice for a good night's rest. We had everything we needed. The pool was great to take a dip in on hot afternoons and having the air conditioning both upstairs and down helped when the weather got really hot. The management company was very helpful with everything we needed and provided lots of excellent information about activities and dining in Merida as well as tours. The owners/property managers seemed to think of everything a guest could need or want. The back courtyard was a quiet and cool respite during the heat of the day. The location was very close to the Plaza Grande and great restaurants and was perfectly quiet for the three days we spent there: Saturday night through Tuesday a.m. Beto, the property manager/concierge was delightful. It is a hidden gem! The staff are all absolutely UNREAL. We did not go without anything. They had beers waiting for us AND we left a dress shirt there which they so kindly couriered to us for next day delivery! We will 100% be staying here on our next trip to Merida! We had Beto for our concierge and he was remarkable at his job. Communication was a breeze and it never took him more than 5 mins to reply back. Place was clean, inviting, and well-situated. The private pool was a blessing after a long, hot day out! Wifi was fast and reliable. The wall-mounted churrasqueira was very handy for a nice BBQ. There was an issue with the air con in the bedroom and they sent someone straight away to rectify the situation. There was, however, a dog next door that howled all night over the weekend, which kept us from a good night's sleep and just about tore our hearts out. We understand that that can be an issue sometimes in México, and there was nothing to be done. All in all a perfect stay. Highly recommend, ##### Agnes L. The house itself is immaculate, with beautiful artwork, a good kitchen and also a pool to relax in. Becca and Beto were great hosts and available at all hours in case you needed something. The upstairs bath and bedroom are both nice, with the bedroom being nice and large, with a very comfortable bed. I would highly recommend this location to anyone visiting Merida.
