As you will see by the list of attractions and dining favorites provided to guests via email, there are many things to do and see in the Lookout Mountain area of Alabama, but for many Guests, this retreat property is the favorite, because it provides everything you could possibly want for a peaceful experience. Guests agree that the heart of this home lies in the many seating areas where family and friends can gather together. At the forefront, a guest favorite is the large screened porch with its large swing bed and wood-burning fireplace. There is plenty of seating, and even a Big Green Egg for BBQ grilling. The Solo smokeless fire pit is directly behind the home and close to the back porch. The area is spacious enough for everyone to gather around the fire. “Rim of the Canyon Café and General Store” is less than 2 miles from the property and has s’more supplies and lots of other goodies for your retreat! This home has an open floor plan, so that the spacious living room, dining area and kitchen ALL have a fabulous view of trees and mountains. The living room has a lot of comfortable seating with two large couches and a comfy leather chair and ottoman. One sofa has a queen sofa bed that can sleep 2 guests very comfortably. Even our 9th and 10th guests can truly have a peaceful night’s sleep with amazing morning sunrise views! There are beautiful window views into the woods, and next to the bedroom is a full bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet. The next bedroom on the main floor is the primary bedroom and has a queen bed, television and comfy sitting area. There is also a large antique desk and chair - perfect for those who are looking for a great space to work remotely. The mountain views from the large window are breathtaking, as they overlook the eastern Broomtown Valley. You can capture the sunrise each morning. Next to the primary bedroom is a very spacious bathroom that includes two separate vanities, a large shower and a large soaking bathtub with a large window that gives picturesque views into the woods of the retreat property. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. Another guest favorite - one bedroom boasts a queen bed and Roku television, along with a step-up, reading nook with the best window views in the home. The comfy chair in the reading nook simply offers a peaceful escape while you read or take in views the mountains – from the greatest heights, overlooking Broomtown Valley. Next to this bedroom, there is another full bathroom with a shower, vanity and toilet. Another bedroom on the second floor is directly across the hall, and this adorable bonus room boasts an additional 2 twin beds. Alabama's own native plants and a variety of wildlife can be seen each morning as you enjoy your first cup of coffee or hot tea. It was a much needed vacation. The porch and swing were perfect and much of our time was spent there. Such a wonderfully spacious den and kitchen, with all the amenities and more! The bedrooms and bathrooms were wonderful. So peaceful. We all slept great! And so close to Little River Canyon Center. Wish we had had more time to explore. It was still decorated for Christmas which we loved. Everything was clean and comfortable. The fireplace in the living room was our gathering point. They had plenty of throw blankets to cozy up in and even left us popcorn, hot chocolate and snack cakes to enjoy. The backyard is fenced in which was perfect for our Vizsla. Felt at home as soon as we entered the screen porch with the huge fireplace. We enjoyed grilling on the BGE and the solo fire pit was great too. Extremely clean and comfortable home with a full stocked kitchen in the form or pots, pans, cookie sheets, and casserole dishes and cutting boards. They have everything. This property has everything that we were looking for to spend a family weekend together. Plenty of space inside and out, nice views, peaceful, and plenty of amenities. The property manager was great at communicating and providing information. Our only disappointment was that we weren't able to use the fireplace on the screened in porch. That was no issue with the owners or property, just bad timing with no burn bans due to no rain. The porch swing/bed was still so relaxing! Each room was comfortable, well appointed, and had everything we needed for our stay. We were able to prep and cook full meals in the gourmet kitchen and the dinning table was big enough to seat all of us comfortably. But the best part is the memories we made while lingering around the dining room table immersed in conversation while looking out the huge windows at the just starting autumn color trees or the starry sky. The fire place kept the chill away when we would practice our southern porch sitting skills and continued the fun of jokes, tall tales, and heartfelt conversations. This review may be a little late but wanted to be sure everyone knows what a wonderful time we had! This was our second stay with Peaceful Retreats in Canyon Hideaway Cottage. It did not disappoint! Everything was perfect and our family had the very best time! They always go above and beyond with lots of extras! You walk in to find a precious gift basket with all sorts of special things in it. A couple of us even got to enjoy a complimentary great breakfast at The Hatter Cafe! You should definitely check them out! Always a delicious meal and such a cute place! Our family loves staying here because they have room for all of us to fit comfortably with together time in the big family room and have very comfy beds! The kitchen is amazing and has everything needed to cook all our meals and snacks. We also love the porch bed and enjoy sitting in front of a fire on the porch as well. They are conveniently located to several playgrounds our grandkids love to go to and very close to some beautiful falls. Thank you for a very fun and relaxing getaway twice now for our family!
