Great atmosphere, very relaxed. Female dorm room has a private bathroom with shower. Nice beaches, restaurants, bars, cafés and shops within walking distance. Wifi only in common area.

Build with the history & vision of the original St Kilda culture. Although Barkley St overall may be in need of a renovation. Conveniently close to McDonalds & when it was time to go a tram only metres away.

Top few rungs of the bunk bed were broken off so getting into bed required some acrobatics. Very rarely were the staff at the desk so ended up calling to phone to see if they’d appear which is when they’d promptly get of the couch they where chilling on to actually help me. There are also no rules in place such as no talking/lights off after a certain time, people would be chatting loudly in the dorms and turning lights on past 11

The staff at the hostel were really polite and very helpful. The issue is that there were too many people living in the hostel long term that keep the room a mess, there are storage lockers that short term guests can't use as the long term people use them as wardrobes, and the long term girls in my room went out of their way to make me feel uncomfortable, complaining to each other whenever I entered the room that short term guests shouldn't be allowed to stay in the hostel and that I should be made to leave. It was more like a cheap shared house for them rather than a social hostel for anyone to stay at, so if you're staying long term then this would be great but if not then don't bother.

Personnel accueillant et gentil.

La cuisine est ouverte en permanence, ce qui est un excellent point en leur faveur. Malheureusement on ne force personne à faire la vaisselle, aussi faut-il souvent attendre que les employés viennent tout nettoyer. . les rangements pour les courses sont insuffisants, il faut patager lrs bacs avec quelqu'un sur place. Néanmoins l'ambiance y est très agréable, avec de la bonne musique pour tout le monde le soir. Seul hic : si le linge de lit est propre, les chambres ne le sont pas. De plus, les douches sont trop peu régulièrement nettoyées avec peu de tapis de sol pour vraiment espérer avoir les pieds propres avant de se coucher ... les éponger sur la moquette de la chambre pour ne pas en mettre dans son lit, cest un peu moyen. Le tenancier est néanmoins fort agréable, et le personnel toujours souriant. Les livres et renseignements touristiques à l'entrée sont de qualité par rapport aux autres auberges, et j'ai pu découvrir quantité de choses agréables grâce à leur sélection pointue. J'y repasserai... mais en transit :)

Not what expected

Location was great however rooms were nothing like pictured. The other guests were loud way into early morning. Beds were very unstable and made lots of noise ate slightest movement. Many of the other guests in the dormitory left the door open/unlocked and I feared that some of my items could be stolen with the carelessness. It was an okay place since I only was there to sleep but I would not reccomend to any of my friends.

St Kilda Rd Tram stop 34 then walk to Barkley st

Friendly helpful staff. The kitchen area had the cooking facilities required for a sumptuous meal. And good storage for food. Good roomy atmosphere at the hostel.

Barkly gem

When I stayed at Barkly Backpackers Hostel, I found it to be busy but quiet area, beds were in good condition, however, the pillowcases need to be changed with each new guest. The bathroom and shower looked clean, but no spare toilet paper. The dorm was well aired, and the kitchen was kept clean by the worker on reception shift. A helpful, friendly bunch, helped make my stay there enjoyable.

・ロケーションはトラム＃３、＃６７で３４ストップ下車、３分。 ・徒歩５分に海、劇場、遊園地さらにはウールワースがあり便利。 ・客室には衣類が散乱。これはホステルの所為ではないが。 ・キッチンとダイニングは少し狭い。 ・リビングのソファは古くて埋もれてしまいそう。 ・スタッフは優秀。
