A comfortable but classic Kiwi bach for your family or friends to enjoy New Zealand’s special wild coastal charm. You can be active diving for paua or crayfish, or relax on the beach while you wait for a fish to hook up. The Mataikona coast is full of opportunities for those who simply enjoy walking and fossicking. Suitable for all year round, you can sit in the sun and watch the hypnotic surf from the deck with a nice, refreshing drink or stay inside playing darts and keeping warm by the woodburner. Head down the road to the golf course, or visit the spectacular cliffs and views at Castlepoint. Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only. Please note the bach is on tank water so conserving water is appreciated. Coastal conditions to be aware of: In strong onshore winds, sand can drift onto the access road at Sandy Bay. The road is usually cleared promptly, but short delays are possible. Power cuts can occur from time to time in severe weather. Our water runs on an electric pump, so taps won’t run during an outage. We provide a BBQ for cooking, torches and candles and the wood burner for heating. The beach itself was pretty wild, and the sea had lots of big logs floating in it, so we opted to drive to Castle Point Beach, only 5 minute's drive away, for our swimming. Bach had everything you need, but the outdoor pizza oven needs a little tlc to be usable, Definitely a great spot for a weekend away from it all. ##### lisa m. We loved the proximity to the beach, the well stocked kitchen (sharp knives!!) And the comfy beds. The master bed is raised so you can lie in bed and watch the sunrise.
