This retreat property is approximately 10 minutes to Navarre Beach and located in a small private neighborhood of all waterfront secluded properties. At our location, it’s over a mile across Santa Rosa sound to Okaloosa Island so lots of water to have fun! If you want to visit Destin or head over to Crab Island, you are less than 30 minutes away. Boasting almost 5000 square feet on the Santa Rosa Sound/ Intercoastal Waterway, this home is perfect for a multi-family or large family vacation get together. The home has 5 oversized bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and an upper and lower living area. All bedrooms and living areas having a view of the water. The property sleeps up to 16 with lots of space to spread out. With a 50 X 100’ of white sand beach area, this is like your own private resort/getaway. You also have a basketball/pickle ball court on the property. The activities on the property and in the Navarre area will keep you and your family busy. When it’s time to wind down, watching the beautiful sunsets from the dock or relaxing on the large back deck will solidify the memories created at Soundside Retreat. There are 3 King beds, 1 Queen bed, 4 full size bunk beds, 1 Daybed, with trundle and a pull out sofa. All rooms are oversized as you can see from the pictures. There are two smart TV’s, one upstairs and one downstairs. Smart TV options are available such as Amazon, Hulu, DirectTV now, Vudu, YouTube TV, etc. There are card games and board games and options for indoor activities as well. The outdoor deck is almost 2000 square feet with an outdoor dining room table and an outdoor couch and two chairs. All you need for some great family time is all on the property. There is a half court basketball court with a regulation 72” professional glass backboard. There are lines painted on the court for pickle ball and (\*Update) we just replaced the pickleball set. Bring your own paddles and pickleballs (or pick up a set at the store) and enjoy a quick game before jumping into the sound for a swim. There is also a 12’ crossfit rig on the beach with multiple stations for pull-ups and an ability to get in a solid workout if that’s your thing. There is over 50’x100’ of white sand beach to do anything you can imagine. You can also play bocce ball or play cornhole with the supplied equipment. If you like to fish, you can achieve a Santa Rosa Grand Slam by catching a redfish, speckled trout and flounder all in one day...just off the dock! I know because I’ve done it. There are a plethora of Ladyfish to catch during certain times of the year and in the late summer, huge schools of Jack Crevalle cruising by the dock. You’ll know when the Jack Crevalle are around when you see all the mullet and bait fish jumping out of the water running to the beach. However, it could as mean dolphins are chasing the fish in too! Often you will see dolphin swimming by the dock and chasing bait. If you’d like to fish and need equipment, I would recommend going to the local Wal-Mart which is set up for beach activities. You can buy a very good rod and reel set for under $40. I have seen some rod and reels sets as low as $15. Pick up a few lures and you are in business. Also if you want local fishing advice, go down the street to Half Hitch bait and tackle shop. They can tell you the tips and techniques on local fishing. They have live shrimp which always the best way to assure yourself plenty of action! You can also pick up a 6 or 8’ cast net for fairly cheap . Mullet run in big schools. If you know how to filet fish, there is nothing better than fried mullet and hush puppies, a local favorite! If you like crab, catch some blue crabs to boil or steam for dinner! There are crab traps also available for use. If you want to go fishing in the sound or in the Gulf of Mexico with a local charter captain, please let us know when you book the property. We have multiple contacts and one that keeps his boat at Soundside Retreat dock. There is plenty of parking for 5+ cars. If you’re looking for a big dose of relax with no one around, some time to squeeze white sand between your toes, walk along the beach barely seeing a soul, watching pelicans dive in the water, enjoy on water sports such as paddle boarding, kayaking, kite surfing, etc then this is a great place to do it. Many guests rent a jetski from Navarre Watersports and enjoy riding around in calmer waters of Santa Rosa Sound. Try towing the kids on a tube! You can fish or swim from the private dock with an extendable ladders, sit on a float and hang out, maybe get a glimpse of dolphins chasing mullet, have a local charter captain take you fishing and pick you up and drop you off at the dock....if you want to try your hand catching fish right off the dock, catch a redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum, jack crevalle or some blue crabs for dinner... even better yet, throw a cast net on some mullet and have fried mullet and hush puppies.... mmm, a southern delicacy... this is the place to be. With the property being nestled on 2 private acres, you’ll have plenty of room to spread out. Play hoops or pickle ball on the half court basketball court, throw the football or kick the soccer ball in the huge yard..in the backyard, Santa Rosa sound is a mile wide at our house so... It has plenty of space short walk to the water, was able to enjoy family time and relax without all the crowd and haven to really keep an eye on the grandkids.In which they enjoyed jumping off the end of the dock especially when the tide was in.which made it deeper. We really are going to keep this place in are future plans. We had four families staying here for Christmas 2023. It was absolutely wonderful. The place is even more beautiful in person! It was one of the most well stocked properties we have stayed at. And lots of extras-extra towels, extra beach towels, extra beach accessories, etc. The grill was brand new! Clean, comfortable. No one had any complaints, except for no ice in the refrigerator. Then we found the separate ice machine beside the dishwasher! Owners were attentive in their messages. All four of our families could not recommend it more! We had 7 kids with us: ages 8-13 and they thought this place was awesome! It easily slept our 4 families. Give this place consideration!! I almost want to keep it secret for ourselves…but enjoy! In all we had 15 people, 7 adults and 8 kids ranging from 2 to 14. It was so nice being able to go straight from the back door to the beach/water. The adults could even sit on the back porch in the shade and watch the kids play. The fishing was great. The house well stocked with toys, beach items, floats, kayak, corn hole, balls, and a well equipped kitchen including plenty of spices. We highly recommend! ##### Tracie D. Easy to get everywhere. It was very comfortable and homey. We had nine adults & two children in our party. Everyone had plenty of space even if they wanted alone time. All the amenities we needed was provided. Walmart is two miles away & Destin is 20 miles away which keeps you out of all the touristy craziness. We did visit Destin a couple times during the week which is gorgeous, but was glad to get 'home' where it was nice & quiet. Several kept referring to being in an episode of Outer Banks or Bloodline. It was perfect for us, our kids, and our grandkids (who had an absolute blast). The owners are the best I've ever dealt with. We highly recommend this wonderful home on Santa Rosa Island Sound. Magical fire pit beach time under the moon, favorite! The breeze on the back porch was heaven. Sunset on the dock was lovely. We appreciated the bonus ice maker too. Its an easy house to feel at home. Make sure to check with the owners on points of interest listed in the description. We had two and both wound up not being available. A trip to the emerald coast is a must. We have never had a stay where you had to wash the towels you use for check out. The large cleaning fee usually covers. While on vacay no fun to be messaged such the last full day. ##### Esther V. We had the best time! We stayed with teens and adults and no one was ever bored. We fished, paddleboarded, kayaked, played endless games of cornhole and cards, played basketball, ended our evenings with fires by the water. Absolutely perfect. First time to stay here and definitely not our last! We spent lots of time on the private beach…snorkeling, fishing, swimming and paddle boarding. Watched a porpoise swim while we were paddle boarding! We enjoyed s’mores by the fire in the comfy chairs and played lots of corn hole. The beds were comfy. The kitchen was perfect for serving our family of 13. And the porch was so peaceful for reading and relaxing. The host was wonderful and easy to contact. ##### Marcy L. The home is located in a small, quiet neighborhood and we seemed to be the only people outside our entire trip, it was so secluded and peaceful. Plenty of sleeping for 15+, with a bed for everyone. The house was big, and roomy, and the back deck was a great place to relax. The water is very calm, though does pick up a little during the day, but perfect for our 9 kids! We really enjoyed the paddleboard and lily pad, relaxing in the beach chairs, catching crabs, lizards, and even a tree frog, shooting hoops, riding scooters up and down the driveway, jumping off the pier, trying to fish and spending endless time in the warm water. We were also lucky to experience some different military helicopters and training just across the sound on the barrier island, which was very entertaining! We also rented a jet ski just down the road before Navarre which was easily driven down the sound to the home and then back. One of the best surprise perks of the home was the separate ice maker - it was so hot and we ALWAYS had ice for drinks and the cooler! Plenty of stores within 5-10 mins, pizza and grocery delivery were possible to the home also. Michelle was available quickly to answer any questions and was more than accommodating to us when some small work needed to be done in the home during our stay. Tons of outdoor kids toys, crib/high chair/walker if needed, beach towels provided, and just all around a great place to spend time with family. We all agreed that this home, location, and private beach were absolutely perfect. Thanks again Michelle! ##### Stacia F. The house was beautifully and comfortably appointed. The access to the private beach and water was perfect, especially for the 2 1/2 year old. My husband fished off the dock everyday. The restaurants in the area are convenient. I think we tried every single one.. The public beach in Navarre was easy to get too and clean. The house comes equipped with everything you could possibly need. Grocery pick up was efficient and convenient from Publix. I can not say enough how helpful and communicative the hosts, Michelle and Doug, were. We had a wonderful and memorable vacation and look forward to going back! ##### Elizabeth P. We have rented many properties at many beaches over the years. This property is the family favorite by far. The Owners have demonstrated an amazing level of hospitality in the appointments and upkeep of the property. We truly felt like their guests. They clearly desire a family vacation experience for their guests as close as possible to their own family vacation experiences. The kids absolutely loved playing in the sound, using the paddle board, kayak and the big blue floating mat. We were able to watch dolphins fishing and military airborne training exercises from the porch, beach or dock. An added bonus was having an awesome fishing charter adventure with Captain Cory Holland (Liquid Prescription Charters) that departed from the dock on the property. We are already looking forward to new adventure experiences next summer at Soundside Retreat. ##### Bill M. The house and location a perfect for families. There were 12 adults and 4 kids in our group and we had plenty of room. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and it had everything that we needed. The private beach was the best. The kids stayed busy with all of the activity options. Michelle and Doug were so easy to work with and they made sure that we had everything that we needed.
