Very convenient location to downtown and roads to area attractions. Easy walk to downtown. Lots of space. Full size kitchen and dining room were great for our family. TV room could use more efficient seating. Everything in pictures is present, but areas not pictured are less completely restored and reflect the age of the building. Definitely has character, but don’t expect a fully restored house. Second bathroom is off kitchen and on a different floor from bedrooms. The three bedrooms share a hallway bath on the second floor. We enjoyed our time using this property as a base to explore Marquette and the surrounding area.
The woodwork in this home is gorgeous, but the whole place needs a lot of TLC. There’s no outside photos in the listing, I asked for one, but didn’t get one. Of course, if that were to happen, the price would increase.
I say no children until the upstairs window is fixed, that was mentioned in reviews previously. It is broken in 2 huge pieces and is sitting in the window. A little nudging or wind and someone could get hurt. Additionally, the front door-door handle is not there which is a safety issue.
The downstairs shower does not work, no water going to it.
Overall, it was fine. Lots of space, we slept well, and just seeing the inside of the home and what it could be was nice. And, you can’t beat the location! Property tender was very responsive to emails.

Nice house once inside
Upon arriving, the home is not as "picturesque" as other properties for the same price . The front porch is disheveled and dirty; chair cushions were strewn about the porch, were filthy and disintegrating. (So much for morning coffee on the porch.) The backyard or "outdoor area" was disappointing - a dirty table and no chairs. The grill is an old, no frills one wheeled charcoal grill. Anything that is outside looks neglected and has gone through some harsh winters. Once inside the home though - it is in fact spacious, clean, accommodating and comfortable. It is an old home and the interior woodwork is beautiful. Yes there is a smart TV, but No DVD player. There is no AC, but it doesn't get hot often here. We were here the last week of June and one night got a little toasty but the fans helped. Each room only has one outlet, so if you have a lot of things to plug in bring a power strip/extension cords. Great location as far as proximity to to downtown, beaches, and bike trails! Neighborhood is...meh. We enjoyed our time here but I feel there could have been several small things to make the home a little more inviting - new cushions for the porch chairs, sweep the porch. Some potted flowers perhaps? Get some new bed pillows! The linens and pillowcases were clean but several of the pillows were gross, brown, stained and old. For as much as they charge I feel a few more personal touches & attention to detail could have made this a 5 star review.
This was a very spacious house. It was extremely clean and comfortable. It was close to places within both walking and driving distances. We are looking to book it again next year.
Very nice all house with original woodwork. Kitchen is great. Location was great. Small investments might be helpful, broken handle the front door, fans in the window, since there was no AC could really improve the stay as it was quite warm at night. Even a couple window AC. Overall good spot!
Great home base for our recreational fun in Marquette. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with plenty of space to relax after a fun day on the trails. Nice big bedrooms and a well stocked kitchen. We would definitely stay here again.
The house was clean, in a good neighborhood, and walkable to downtown. It did seem like it is a remodel in progress. It feels sparse, instead of cozy and welcoming. There are old house quirks (per another review, the shower upstairs does get hot- the cold and hot water is plumbed backwards).
This house has an amazing location. Easy walk to down town Marquette or to the lake. The only down side is it was very hot the last night we were there and a lot of the windows don't open so we were baking. Owner said she has though of installing some window AC units so once she does that this would push this to a 5. Off street parking for multiple cars is also great.
We loved staying here. As an owner of an old home myself, I really enjoyed imagining all the life that has been lived in this house. If walls could talk. So spacious and just beautiful.
We were there for my daughter’s wedding. It is a beautiful old home with beautiful woodwork.
Only suggestion is for more pans and oven needed cleaning.
We really appreciated the location of property - close to downtown and walking distance to several things. However, the house itself needs a little attention regarding safety - windows were broken and did not seal, front door was missing handle and back door handle came off easily. Shower heads hard to regulate. However, very clean and communication was great.
Prior to retirement, we had lived in and remodeled an old house, built in 1912, so my husband and I were very familiar with how an old house can look at the beginning of the fixer up period. We appreciated the wood floors and original woodwork, the large rooms; it was a comfortable space. The location was great for walking to and around downtown Marquette restaurants and shops, and easy to get to other local hiking trails, museums, and beaches. My reasons for less than stellar review:*Kitchen sink water flow barely trickled*Upstairs bathroom shower took forever to get hot water... turned it off and used the downstairs shower after ten minutes of running it. Installing a circulation pump would go a long way.*Backyard space was nothing spectacular , and grill was small and charcoal.*A little WD-40 would go a long way on those squeaky upstairs bathroom door hinges.* Kitchen could have been a little better equipped... good for light breakfast or snacking, not conducive to cooking a big dinner.Overall, it was just fine for a home base. I think it has the potential to be something awesome, right now it's just cozy and looks a little "tired".
