"Beautiful stay, but concerning privacy issue I would have easily given Shangri-La 5 stars if it weren’t for two incidents involving housekeeping entering our room despite the "Do Not Disturb light being on". The first was particularly upsetting. A housekeeping supervisor entered while I was half-dressed and lying in bed. I heard the bell ring once but didn’t respond because the DND light was on, so I assumed no one would enter. To my shock, he came in and was suddenly standing in front of my bed. I initially thought it was my husband. He said he rang three times, but whether once or three times, "DND means do not enter". I reported it to the help desk. The staff member was very sweet, although her first response was, “Are you sure you didn’t call for service?” Thankfully, the manager handled it professionally. She called me, reviewed the camera footage, apologized, reassured me, and provided a $200 credit. Unfortunately, two days later, another male housekeeping staff member entered while the DND light was on, again saying he knocked three times. At that point, I was too tired to complain again. Aside from this, we loved our stay. Our suite had a beautiful harbour view, the room was always clean and well-stocked, staff were lovely, and breakfast was excellent. Without these two privacy incidents, this would have easily been 5 stars."

"Could not get a better view (Opera house view high floor), the automatic curtains opening to the view of Sydney harbour when we walk in the room was breath taking. The staff was amazing we arrived very early (7am) and they were so kind to check if out room was ready early , store our luggage while we explored and text us when it was available. The hotel is beautiful and spotless. The shower was fantastic. The king bed and pillows were some of the comfiest I've experienced in a hotel. The location is prime, one train 6 stops to Circle Quay and then only a 3 min walk up the hill to the hotel. The harbour is pretty much on your doorstep.Wish we stayed longer in Sydney. My wife and I enjoyed a nice take away in the room with our view every night."

"This is the first hotel at which I have stayed that offers an early arrivals lounge. As someone who arrived at the hotel at 8 AM with check-in not available until 3 PM, it was fabulous to have a place to stay that provided coffee, water and cookies. I also greatly appreciated to get the call at 11 AM that I could get into my room. Whenever I go to the Sydney opera, this will be the hotel where I will stay!"

"Excellent choice for a stay in Sydney. Our family stayed here while visiting Australia for the first time. Location was wonderful - right on the water and within walking distance to restaurants, shops and attractions in multiple directions. We never needed a rental car or taxi for our entire stay. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Circular Quay ferry terminal. The hotel's aesthetic is great. We appreciated the inclusion of the original pier's construction paired with nice contemporary furnishings. We enjoyed the restaurant's morning breakfast options and service, as well as the evening dining options with outdoor seating. The hotel staff are excellent. Every interaction throughout our stay was pleasurable. Especially high remarks for the hotel's concierge, Eugene, who went above and beyond to help ensure our stay was memorable."
