"We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful lakefront house! The location was absolutely perfect, with gorgeous views of the lake and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The house was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with excellent amenities that made our stay feel like a true getaway.Everything we needed was available, and the home was thoughtfully equipped for both relaxing and enjoying time together. We especially loved the lakefront setting and the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.The property was even better than we expected, and the entire experience was enjoyable from start to finish. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this lakefront rental to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing, and memorable vacation!"

"This place was perfect for our family! It had everything we needed. It's a short drive to Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake and the AuSable River. We stayed four nights and were able to take our boys kayaking, swimming, tubing and out on a boat ride so they could fish. And they loved exploring the woods out back. Diane was an amazing host! She responded right away to any questions we had. She even had a s'mores kit and coffee for us when we arrived. The fire pit area was perfect for us to make s'mores and plenty of seating. There are so many things to do close to the Rustic Retreat. If we come back to this area we will definitely try to book this place again. If I could give 10 stars I would!"

"Great home rental! Amazing location for kayaking and boating, easy to bring your own boat and get it to the house from nearby dnr boat launch. Space for our cornhole games in spacious yard, and all the amenities your want like laundry, dishwasher, ac, and WiFi. Thank you so much for an amazing stay! We’re already planning for next year "

"The property was good, plenty of activities/games to keep the kids busy and outside. The house was very clean and spacious. The road was a little close and cars went by fast. The pontoon boat was nice and a fun activity but the lake was shallow. Overall a great family vacation!"

"Property was absolutely what we were looking for. Family of 5, including 3 kids with all their devices. The house was properly equipped for their internet and charging needs. Lots of available USB Charging for their stuff and our radios. House was spacious and clean. Ample parking for a pair of Broncos and the kids car. Its well within striking distance of any of the trails you'd like to run, and just minutes from downtown Houghton. The neighborhood was quiet, met a couple of the neighbors, very friendly. We had very peaceful evenings after we got off the trails. Would definitely stay here again."

"Cozy, spacious property on the canal and steps away from Houghton Lake. Beds were comfortable, outdoor space was wonderful and the kitchen was well equipped. Property is also close to Higgins Lake State park and lots of restaurants and coffee shops. We loved watching the turtles and fishing from the dock."
