Check in and Check out process was a total breeze. The property itself is STUNNING. Ample space outside to sit down and enjoy a book with your coffee or even just enjoy meals out there.
Be sure to follow the hosts extremely clear directions on how to travel to the property. The recent fires did a number on the landscape and Waze/Google Maps will take you the wrong way.

Nice, clean, quiet and neat.
Overall a lovely place and a very enjoyable stay. House is very nice and well appointed. Beds are comfy. Mariposa is a cute little town. I would highly recommend this property, with the only minor drawback being the road up to the house. It’s a pretty rough logging road. We have a SUV so it wasn’t a problem for us, but it’s something to consider if you own a nice new luxury sedan : ).
This home is tucked away in the foothills with easy access to Mariposa, hiking and fishing. It was obvious to me that the hosts were thoughtful about the amenities included throughout the home. The seating was ample and varied. The beds were very comfortable. The AC units were efficient and effective! The owners were prompt to reply and helpful with any questions or issues that arose.
There were just a few downsides to this property. 1. The water flow in the bathroom sink was very minimal and it never warmed up, it was lukewarm at best. 2. The water does have a slightly sulfuric odor so we bought a couple large bottles of water for cooking, making tea and coffee. 3. The carpet flashing from the hallway to the master bedroom need repair. There are screws poking up which one could trip on or injure themselves on if walking barefoot. 4. Finally, there were no lights on at the property when we arrived late at night except for a few solar powered landscape step lights. Given that this property is located in a remote location it would have been more appropriate and welcoming if a few house lights were on inside and out.

Liked: Check-in
Disliked: Cleanliness, location
Bed are comfortable, but place has some issues
Pretty location, loved the horses and had comfortable beds. But.... the house has a real problem with spiders and their webs all over, killed about 20 in the house. We removed an 8" lizard from the master bedroom and there's mice in the kitchen eating our food.
We were really wishing it would have be better.
We arrived at the property with children, pet and my elderly mother. There was NO KEY IN LOCKBOX. NO RESPONSE FROM OWNER. We tried calling VRBO and kept getting redirected to voicemail. Finally got through to a representative who tried calling owner, got no response, created a case, redirected us to another team. The call got disconnected, didn’t get any call back and couldn’t get through again, same voicemail that offices were closed. This was between 6PM and 7PM in evening. We gave up, found a hotel, paid high last minute price and moved there by 9PM. We reconnected with customer service, the confidence guarantee gave us no confidence or help. They refused to compensate for the time loss, the extra costs and the terrible experience. Very disappointed with this owner and vrbo
We ventured out to Mariposa to take our first week vacation in years. We wanted our three large (although trained and well cared for) dogs to join us, which can be a tall order.
Fritz and Lindsey were kind enough to provide this perfect little rental to fit the bill. We had to text Fritz once or twice and he was very responsive. I actually met him while walking one of the dogs and he was very open, friendly, and helpful.
The house is just the perfect size for two adults and our 3 dogs (along with their crates and other necessities). It would easily fit a family of 4 or 5.
The mornings and evenings on either the outside or screened-in porch listening to the chatter of birds was so relaxing and I already miss it terribly. The kitchen has the essentials (except it was pretty short on knives ;) ) and the beds were clean and comfy.
The property is about 10 minutes out of the charming town of Mariposa, 30 minutes from the large town of Oakhurst, and 40 minutes outside of Yosemite. There are non-yosemite hiking spots and attractions nearby as well.
I have 1 complaint and 1 warning: The complaint first - the water smelled badly of sulfur. It's well water, which I don't know much about, but I suspect that played in to it. We bought bottled water to drink, but you can't do much when taking a shower or doing dishes. We worked around it, but it's pretty noticeable.
The warning - Fritz will send you an email with directions to the property. USE THESE (print them), don't go by GPS. I tried to open the email too late and we had no cell signal and had to rely on the GPS. The GPS took us on a private, very un maintained road. Luckily we have a very capable AWD SUV, but in a regular sedan this may have been dangerous. The directions should take you through and past the down of Mariposa before turning on Triangle. From Mariposa, it's a very easy drive.
We had a lovely stay! Place was as described. So peaceful and gorgeous. I wish we had known the tap water was going to smell so strongly of sulphur (not a big deal but it was a surprise). Otherwise our stay was perfect.
A wonderfully peaceful cabin which made for a delightful visit to Yosemite. Three beautiful horses, lots of quails, woodpeckers and lizards. Definitely worth a stay.
This was a perfect place for our group of friends. We spent part of our time in Yosemite and the other half on the property, enjoying both equally! The house has everything we needed, and I appreciated the sharpness of the knives! The wrap around deck is fantastic when it's cool enough, the screened in porch just as good when it's warm.
House is definitely off the beaten path. Directions from owner was spot on. Lovely house. Has pretty much all you need. Just under an hour away from Yosemite. Cute town of Mariposa not far.
We had an amazing time with our toddler here. The place is tastefully decorated, really well equipped and is in a beautiful, quaint location. The view from the deck during sunset is wonderful. Most importantly to us, there is great AC throughout the house that keeps the house cool during the midday heat while staying whisper quiet so our toddler could easily take his long midday nap. We also loved visiting the horses.
It's nice to be 10min from a good grocery store in Mariposa and 15min from Briceburg where the beautiful Merced River canyon starts.
The property is pretty, and no neighbors in sight. The view from the porch is great and faces the sunset.
Our kids loved meeting the horse and going out frequently to say hi.
I wish I would hit the lottery!!! I would buy me a place just like this one. Was so nice to escape reality for a few days. Thank you for your hospitality.
We had a nice time at the Buckingham home. There were only 3 of us, so it was more than big enough. The house is only a few minutes off the main road. Since it was cooler weather in the evenings, we did not make much use of the nice patio areas, but I'm sure it would be a great place to relax during warmer months. The town of Mariposa is only a 10 minute drive away, so there are restaurants, shops, grocery store should one need anything. The home was clean and the owners were responsive to our questions. There was even Wifi and YouTube TV, which is more than one would expect for a get away weekend spot.
The Buckingham Mountain house was a perfect stay for our Yosemite trip. Directions provided to the house were spot on, making it less stressful to find. Quiet place to getaway
Nice secluded location but was easy to find. Very quiet & peaceful. The cabin is cute & comfortable. We loved hanging out on the screened porch & decks. We came to relax & it was the perfect spot for us!

Great stay in a great location, very quiet and peaceful
This is a really sweet little cabin, about a 40 min drive to the Ash Mtn gate of Yosemite NP. Very quiet and peaceful location. The cabin is well equipped with all you need for a great stay. We had a few minor issues but the host was very responsive and we have zero complaints. The sleeping porch was great, we spent one of our nights out there. One note if the VRBO listing states that this is a "waterfront" property with a "water view" but we saw no sign of water when we were there. There's a gully behind the house which I imagine might seasonally contain a creek but there was no sign of that when we were there. We did not book this cabin because we thought it was waterfront and didn't care too this inaccuracy with the listing, but its worth mentioning for others who might be looking for a place on the water.
