Casa de Gondomil for 4 people

Casa de Gondomil: BE A PART OF THE RIVER, BEING APART FROM IT ALL

Located half way up a hill on an agricultural property called "Quinta de Gondomil", from where it takes its name, this house is set on the right bank of the river Douro, and has an extension of almost 200 metres facing it. It is a detached house with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and a living room with a terrace which has a view over the Douro.

It is a stone built property from the 1940s and was the property owners´ home at one time, with architecture characteristic of the era and region. It was recently renovated and fitted with every commodity and comfort for rural tourism, such as central heating, a hearth, air conditioning etc.

Peaceful gem!

A little house along the Douron river, clean and a very nice pool. Very kind host couple. We enjoyed very much for four nights. Canoes were also nice to use.

We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Gondomil. We checked in late, but that was no problem for the owners. We were warmly welcomed! The nature is beautiful, and from the balcony, you have a stunning view of the Douro! The pool is delightful. A great place for those who love peace and quiet, and an excellent base for trips to Porto and Peso da Régua. Highly recommended!

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely villa in August. Very well equipped and comfortable, and in a great location to explore the area - but note the roads are very windy and hilly so it can take a while to get places! The swimming pool is great with a fantastic view, and we enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the river. The owner Maria gave us some good tips on places to visit and made us very welcome. Thank you for your hospitality :)

This is a very proud family property, clean and in a beautiful location on the Douro River. The owners are cheerful and interactive and very helpful. We loved our stay here. We swam, helped pick grapes, and my husband even had the opportunity to stomp them to make family wine.

Our host was helpful. It was great to have a swimming pool overlooking the Douro. The house has air conditioning which was good as the outside temp was over 30C! The kitchen has all equipment to prepare meals. We were glad my husband is a good driver on very curved roads!

A week in Portugal

We had a great week staying at this property by the river. It overlooks the river and you can use the kayaks. There’s a balcony and a pool. Being on the side of the valley makes parking a bit tricky. Maria was helpful, suggested places to eat and fixed the coffee machine straight away.

Little cottage in the hills

This is a very unique property nestled in the hills just above the Douro River. Very private, quiet and peaceful. Our host Maria Eugenia, was very welcoming and accommodating. The pool was pristine and access to the river a bonus! Would stay here again. Highly recommend.

Wunderbares Haus am Douro

Das gepflegte kleine Haus am steilen Hang des Douro hat uns sehr gut gefallen! Die Lage am Terrassengarten mit Zitrusfrüchten mit toller Aussicht ist sehr schön und ruhig gelegen! Die Küche ist funktional aber ausreichend ausgestattet. Bei unserem Besuch waren die Herdplatten nicht eben, so dass zum selberkochen etwas Kreativität gefragt war. Ein kleiner Trick für die Koffer: unten stehen lassen und durch die Doppelfenster ebenerdig hineinheben!
