About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
This gorgeous bolthole is set in the heart of pretty Ryedale, near Malton, in the Vale of Pickering surrounded by rolling countryside. Perfect for relaxing weekends, walkers, cyclists, a romantic retreat or a culture-filled experience with excellent restaurants and places to visit nearby. The Granary comprises a spacious one bedroom cottage with a Vi-spring mattress on a super king sized bed, Egyptian cotton bed linen, antique pine furniture, art on the walls and a beautiful view across the open fields of the arable farm. It has a brand new eat-in kitchen (with new Nespresso Coffee machine) and a tasteful bathroom with a separate walk-in shower as well as a bath and White Company towels. The large sitting room has a wood burner for cosy evenings (logs included), a large sofa and armchair, fresh flowers, coffee tables, all furnished with the owners' art, antiques and collectables. Set at the end of a private road off a country lane, this is unquestionably peaceful and idyllic in its setting and is full of character. It adjoins the main house at the very end of the property to ensure it retains its privacy but the owners are on hand to offer advice and local knowledge, having grown up in the local area. It has a fenced and (mostly patio) garden, with table and chairs, stunning views across towards the North York Moors and a wood-burning brazier to keep warm or to use as a barbecue. The holiday home is just 5 miles from the bustling market town of Malton, and Pickering, nestled between the Howardian Hills and the Moors. Helmsley is only 20 minutes away and was just awarded 'best market town in Britain'. It also has easy access to the historic city of York and is only 40 minutes from the spectacular North East coast with seaside towns such as Whitby, Filey and Scarborough to explore. Historic stately homes of Castle Howard, Duncombe Park and Nunnington Hall are only a few miles away. We are also very close to the North York Moors National Park, Dalby Forest and other local attractions such as Eden Camp. You enter The Granary through the garden, to a sheltered front door (all brand new external windows and doors) which leads into a small hall. The bathroom with WC, basin, bath and separate shower is to your left and the kitchen straight ahead with dining table and amenities listed below. The corridor then leads onto the large bedroom and spacious sitting room. All internal doors are reclaimed pine, carpets, rugs and tiling all fitted this year. Other amenities and features are listed below: A welcome pack awaits you on arrival to include milk, tea, coffee etc; the bedroom features a double wardrobe, two bedside cabinets and a generous chest of drawers all in antique pine; the well-equipped kitchen has an electric ceramic x4 hob with oven and grill, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge with ice-box; (iron/ironing board, clothes washing facilities and extra freezer space are available on request); Farrow & Ball colour scheme;; free Wifi; flat screen TV with Freeview; games, books and binoculars (to spy on the local wildlife to include garden birds, pheasants, partridges, barn owls nesting nearby and wild deer!); hairdryer; no internal steps; oil central heating throughout; parking right outside the front door for two cars; public footpaths criss-cross the farm for plenty of nearby walks. Sorry no pets and no smoking in the property.

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful little cottage. The location was so peaceful and is a great spot for exploring all North Yorkshire has to offer
Exceptionally well-presented holiday let - plenty of room with everything we needed. Very quiet, farm-land location with plenty of bird-life to keep us company and many places of interest nearby, including a local pub serving good food. Would happily stay here again.
Had a great time here. Secluded spot with great views. Kate was a fabulous host and the cottage was perfect in every respect. Would be happy to recommend.
Our visit was just right, the peace and quiet is just amazing. Just sitting outside watching the hares jump around the field was a joy.
The property was just what we needed. Well equipped, clean and spacious.
Perfectly peaceful stop over for a few days of R & R . Spotless clean and spacious cottage, ideal for 2, in a charming location. Close to plenty of classic land marks and traditional places to visit. Kate was super helpful when we had a little crisis and made us feel very welcome, but did not intrude in any way . Would highly recommend this great place.
This is a lovely, comfortable, peaceful cottage looking out across the fields. It’s a short drive from Malton for shops and restaurants etc. we’ll equipped, comfy bed, powerful shower and our lovely host Kate welcomed us and left some essentials and treats. We would stay here again.
In a rural setting, very quiet except when tractors rolling (not often nearby), but 10 minutes from main road networks to very nice towns.
Very quiet and peaceful.
Well thought out and useable amenities
We really enjoyed our time at The Granary. The property was well furnished and kept to a really high standard. Kate, the host was great to deal with. The property is in a very quiet rural area and a home from home stay. Would love to return in the Summer months.
The property is in a quiet, rural location very convenient for visiting York and surrounding beautiful countryside.
The Granary was very clean and comforfable with all we needed for a great holiday. The property is surrounded by countryside and in a lovely spot. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you to Kate for her warm, friendly welcome.
If you are looking to get away from it all, then The Granary is perfect. It is peaceful, rural, & a cosy cottage. The log burner is an added bonus for the colder nights in. WiFi signal was good. But you must be prepared to drive to places as very off the beaten track, which we loved.
An escape amongst nature. Very quiet , apart from the birdsong beautiful to hear. Cottage was very well appointed , cosy and comfortable.
Directions were very clear, even though the cottage was well out of the way.
Every morning we saw the hares playing in the fields, we also made the most of the walks around the farmland.
A beautiful place to recharge the batteries , while still not far from lots of places to visit, Castle Howard was very close by.
This property provided a wonderful new year break to get away from it all for my partner and I. It felt like such an adventure driving up the country track to the cottage! The host provided really clear directions and useful information before our stay, and the property was brilliantly set up for the two of us. The decor is beautiful, and we really appreciated touches like milk in the fridge, dishwasher tablets, good quality towels and christmas decorations. Loved having the choice between a shower and a bath, and the bed was really comfy and enourmous. There is great walking right on the doorstep, or easy day trips such as York and Whitby. This is an absolute gem for a couples' break.
Everything was wonderful.
Our hosts even included a pack of biscuits and 500ml of milk in the fridge.
The road up to the cottage is a well maintained farm road as long as you drive at no more than 10 mph.
Very comfortable king size bed sith luxurious bath towels etc.
The wifi worked well as did the tv although we hardly had it on.
The towns of Pickering & Malton were less than 5 miles away, both with good & interesting shops.
I look forward to returning on my next visit.

This property was amazing and in a wonderful location. Sadly we needed to leave early due to a close family member being seriously ill. We do hope to return sometime and would highly recommend this barn to others.
What a beautiful location and exceptional accommodation. From the moment we arrived until we had to depart we were comfortable and relaxed. Kate was wonderful to work with too.Thank you so much.
