Lovely week at Le Meridien hotel. Staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Great rooftop pool. Clean rooms. Big breakfast choice and over 3 hours. Great evening dining menu too.

Amazing stay at Le Meridien

Posted 19-Aug-2015
Cons: My only recommendation would be some low level music in the Executive Lounge. It was a little too quiet and guests whispered because of this!
I opted to pay the extra for an Executive Room with Sea View and I can say I was not disappointed! The Executive rooms are located on the 9th floor with great views, but what really won me over was the access to the Executive Lounge (solely for those on the 9th floor). Breakfast in the morning for the select guests was 'spot-on' and then they have an 'Afternoon Tea' session from 4:30 - 7:00pm, where they lay-on some hot and cold snacks and you help yourself to soft and alcoholic drinks (I think the Mrs and I drank them out of G&Ts and Rose!!!). A great big thank you to Brian in the main bar who was very welcoming on our first day, but also to Julian in the Executive Lounge, where nothing was too much trouble and his manners were impeccable. A very enjoyable 5 night stay and when we return to Malta, this will be the only place we will stay as it was perfectly located for St Julian's Bay and a lovely leisurely walk into Sliema.

10 day stay.

Posted 13-Aug-2015
Pros: Room size, cleanliness and location.
Location: This hotel excellently located and is close to the sea front, shops, restaurants and bars.
We had a 10 day stay in this hotel and had a fabulous time. I have recommended it to my son who is hoping now to book a holiday for himself later in the year. The hotel facilities are superb as is its location. It certainly has something for everyone! Whilst we were there we took two of the organised bus tours that cover's the north and south of the island. We also took a boat trip to the island of Gozo.

Majority good; just a couple of bits of advice

Posted 26-Jul-2015
Pros: Front of house staff. Great room.
Cons: Poolside staff need to be more attentive. Used towels left lying about and some guests using glass spirit bottles to make their own cocktails poolside
Location: Popular with locals as well. Do Gozo guided tour and Comino half-day Blue Lagoon. Sliema shops just as good as Valetta (Barrakka gardens worthwhile).
For a 5 star hotel (owned by a U.S. Co.) the standard of excellent service at reception was not matched by staff at all levels. Ice makers didn't work on every floor and fridges could be easier to fill with your own beverages without hassle. Small notice threatens to charge you seconds after removing mini bar items to make room, or you can pay a daily charge to clear it of all their stuff.... In reality they are happy to waive as long as you haven't consumed anything. Pool towels not always available without going to find staff and only one of the pool-side two showers worked. That said great location with lovely views and one of the best buffet breakfasts we have ever had for the money.

Great view in a quiet setting

Posted 25-Jul-2015
We enjoyed our short weekend at Le Meridien The hotel is located on a quieter bay and we had a room with a balcony and sea view (worth the extra cost). Concierge staff was especially helpful in planning excursions and helping with transportation to maximize our time. Room was comfortable. Our only suggestion would be to ensure that there are towels at the pool. We went in late afternoon and there were none left and no one could provide them when we asked. But this was a small issue at an otherwise excellent stay. Would definitely go again.

Superb hotel and location

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing at all
we stayed here at the start of July for 5 nights and had an excellent time. From the first moment we arrived our expectations were met. we were helped from the taxi, our luggage taken, our check in very smooth and then were blown away by our room and view. We were in an Executive room on the 10th floor with a seaview room overlooking the bay. it was definitely worth paying more for this level room as we also had access to the Executive lounge with complimentary drinks, snacks and breakfast. The restaurants around us were plentiful and all good that we tried, particularly Picollo Padre. having travelled the island, we felt that as a middle aged couple travelling with no children, Balluta Bay was definitely the best choice of resort for us, plenty of restaurants with a small beach (at low tide) but no so full of child aimed activities. This wouldn't be a good resort to stay with children
