Find hotels in Makovci from £56

For most travellers, the best time to visit Makovci is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October).

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the Istrian countryside and enjoying outdoor activities without the peak summer heat. You'll find the vineyards and olive groves at their most picturesque, either in full bloom or ready for harvest.

Couples often find these shoulder seasons superb for a relaxed and romantic getaway. The region is less crowded than in July and August, allowing for more intimate experiences at local wineries and truffles farms. It's also an excellent time for scenic drives through the rolling hills and visits to mediaeval hilltop towns like Motovun and Grožnjan, which are easily accessible from Makovci.

Families travelling with younger children might also appreciate the milder temperatures and fewer crowds, making excursions to the coast or local attractions more comfortable.
