About this property
Pond-Side Chalet • Private Beach • Canoe & Kayak
"So close to the water's edge you could practically fish from the deck." That's what guests say about Idylweiss Chalet, our pond-side chalet in Eidelweiss Village, 15 minutes from North Conway. Mornings on the deck with the loons calling across Little Pea Porridge Pond. Afternoons on the private sandy beach with the canoe and kayak. Sleeps seven across three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. A short drive to Storyland, ski resorts, and the Kancamagus Highway.
Our chalet sits in a private alpine community on Little Pea Porridge Pond, a non-motorized lake we share with a small group of cabin neighbors. Family-owned and hosted for over a decade, the chalet runs year-round: swimming and canoeing in summer, snowshoe walks and ice skating in winter, foliage drives in fall.
Our chalet is two stories with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The main level has the open kitchen, dining, and living area under vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, plus one bedroom and a full bathroom. Sliding glass doors off the main level open to the upper deck overlooking the pond. The lower walkout level has two more bedrooms (one with a queen, one with a bunk), the second full bathroom, a second living area with a futon, the laundry, and a screened porch facing the water.
The deck and the beach are where the chalet opens up. The upper deck overlooks the pond with outdoor dining and a BBQ for slow mornings and evening cookouts. The backyard is directly on the water's edge offering a private sandy beach with Adirondack chairs, a canoe, a kayak, and a fire pit (permit required use of pit has an additional fee) The lower screened porch faces the water for a quieter spot to sit through a summer storm or watch the sunset.

We stayed here the weekend of June 20th for a girls trip & had an amazing time! The home was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the private beach & beautiful view from the deck! Highly recommend.
The house was perfect for our long weekend. The listing is very accurate. Communication with the owner was excellent. Eidelweiss Village is a great home base for exploring Conway and the White Mountain area.
We enjoyed the pond, the house and the area very much. The owner is prompt with cummunications. The house is well equipped and the swimming and kayaking was definitely the highlight of our stay.
Pictures accurately represented the home and amenities. The owner, Patrick responded quickly to inquiries and our family had a great time. The home was furnished nicely and it has its own small beach. We enjoyed using the supplied kayak and canoe, as well as the fire pit.
We loved having the pond right in the back yard. No motorized boats made it a perfect spot to teach our 3 year olds how to swim. Water was warm and clean. We had planned on visiting the other beaches on the larger ponds; but we didn't really find any reason to leave the private beach on the property.
We will be booking again regularly.
The house and location were perfect. Plenty of adventures to have within an hours travel. There was a hiccup with the downstairs shower but the owner was quick to reply and get a plumber in to fix. The AC in the house works amazing. Definitely will be renting again.
We were very pleased with the house! It was clean and just as it was advertised. It was a great space for our family and we really enjoyed our ski trip! We would definitely rent this house again because its in a great location!
We had a lovely stay in Madison this summer! The house was very clean, no bugs inside (hard to get in NH!), and the kitchen was well stocked with the dishes and paper products we needed. Having a dishwasher and the included pods, as well as a washer/dryer and detergent was fantastic! We had an issue with the bees outside (as did the entire town apparently), and due to a drought, we were not able to use the fire pit at all, which was dictated by the fire warden. Neither of these were the fault of the property owner but wanted to note them separately. The property owner was very communicative and their expectations of us were clearly detailed in their documents. Items to note: you will need to get approvals from the fire warden to have any fires (the permit costs money), there are no beach towels provided, and you will need to take your trash with you when you leave or bring them to the transfer station. Overall, we had a great time, and would stay here again!
My family and I have been coming to the white mts at least once a year as a tradition ever since my oldest daughter was born. I have always rented a house from friends(that are practically family) that own a house in Eidelweiss Village. They recently sold that house and this was the first experience we have had renting from someone we did not know, also the first time booking through VRBO. This property has a fire pit, it is stated that you can use it but a permit must be attained. At the time of asking this I had no idea not only would this cost $35 dollars but you would also have to meet with the fire chief to sign papers. I no longer wished to use the firepit ( did not want to take time away from our plans to arrange a meeting and decide a specific day and time for the fire as rain was forecasted. I still needed to pay the $35 dollars for the permit even though we wouldn’t be using it. Just something to be aware of. Also there is a cleaning service and fee for this cleaning service but dishes are not included. They must be cleaned and put away. Again, this is stated but it is something to be aware of(we complied but we figured it was something that would be included with the cleaning fee). Lastly, upon arrival at this property my husband and I noticed that the screen closest to the front door had popped at the seam, and the rubber trim was dangling. I am not expecting perfection when I enter anyone’s house, and as a first time renter to a stranger I never even thought to bring it up or report it. It was to my surprise that not long after we checked out I received a message regarding a claim that would be submitted for damages and a question of how it occured. I responded through messenger but also called the owner(Patrick) immediately, as this claim was $375. Though Patrick was respectful and I explained that this was the condition upon arrival, that nothing was altered or damaged, we did not leave trash out, everyone in the house was respectful of his property, I am still having to accept responsibility for these damages as he wasn’t sure what else to do and the previous renters and housekeeper claimed it was not in that condition an hour before our arrival. Please please please report anything even small things because I was not aware this could happen to me in this case and it really put a damper on a vacation that my family has been looking forward too. I will be hesitant to rent from people I do not know because of this.
Beautiful views. Only thing I will say is that it wasn’t very clean, the stove/oven was very very dirty/greasy and there was a lot of dust in bedrooms and other places. But the house was comfy and warm, very homey. The views is definitely one of the highlights, absolutely beautiful. Overall we would stay there again.
This property is comfortable and one of the cleanest I’ve stayed in. The location is great. Loved the pond view and the manager was responsive to my questions. Each property is different so I’ll share some info to make your stay easier.
GPS took us right to the rental but after dark, there are no lights and the number marker on the tree is hard to see.
Bring ice, no ice maker on the property.
You have to remove the trash yourself at a transfer station. It is not open all day so plan your activities around this. It is $5 per bag. Rental info about this is contradictory. In the house handbook, it says that they will remove up to 2 bags if you check out when the transfer station is closed. In the info sent upon renting, it said there would be an additional $300 charge for any trash left at the property. Check before you assume anything.
You need a fire permit to use the fire pit. There is a $35 fee and you must schedule an appointment with the Fire Marshall to sign the permit. We were only there 2 days so we did not want to interrupt our plans to accommodate this.
Checkout instructions are to set the thermostat to 60. The central heat is slow so use the auxiliary wall heaters. (We are from Texas so did not know to use these at first.)
Restaurants are short staffed so call ahead to get on the list.
The Community Market is actually the best grocery store in Conway.
Have fun.
Great property for four of us to get away close to North Conway and Fryeburg Fair. I love being right on the lake beautiful view can fish from the yard couldn’t ask for any more
My wife and I were looking for a relaxing week by the water and we found it at this property! The amenities were exactly what we needed. Beach was perfect for our young son to play in and the pond was quiet as it appears motorized boats are not allowed. The location is also very convenient for any activities you want to do in the white mountains. We loved the location and area and will strongly consider coming back next year.
Nice place in a great location. Cheery and updated, really well set up for enjoying some time by the lake. Minisplit AC is quiet and comfortable. Great sandy beach, thumbs up on having the canoe and kayak there to borrow.
We really loved the Chalet with the private beach!
The property was in Great shape and we loved the private beach!
The manager was great with communicating to us about the check in and making sure we were all set and enjoying our stay!
The place was great, and the hosts were very accommodating. The location is great. It feels secluded but just a quick drive to many places. The kayak and canoe were great to use. The hosts responded quickly and provided everything you’d need. We ended up staying there and cooking most of our meals, and there was plenty of supplies. Overall a great trip, and we’d definitely come back!
