Lyman Run State Park

I've been to a lot of hotels in NY, as my wife is a flight attendant based here. This was, without any doubt, the worst hotel experience I can recall. I definitely will not be booking with the Holiday Inn ever again. The biggest issue is that the hotel is apparently situated adjacent to a rave event that goes until 2 am. My wife and I were subjected to brutally loud rave music for about 5 hours, leading up to 2 am. I'm talking massive bass that caused your pillow to vibrate. Pure torture. We didn't sleep a bit that night. Second, I got this room because it had a full kitchen. Maybe this is my fault, but I would have expected the kitchen to have basic things like pots, pans, maybe utensils. It was 100% barren, and the hotel doesn't offer anything. What is the use of a full kitchen if I'd have to go to the store and purchase these items? I'm totally confused. Making matters worse, we didn't realize that the fridge wasn't working, and all of the food that we purchased was spoiled by the morning. Finally, I'm annoyed that they imposed a $125 incidental fee to our bill. I'm at a complete loss as to what incidentals I could have possibly incurred, and how they could possibly add up to $125. This experience was complete joke, and we are very bitter about it. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The Night Hotel is a reliable place to stay on the Upper West Side. The staff are friendly and most remember you when you come back again. It’s affordable (although over the past year prices seemed to have gone up). The rooms are clean (by a very lovely cleaning staff): the beds very comfortable and it’s a perfect environment to sleep, i.e. there is not much street noise or light that seems in. It doesn’t have a lot of extras like another hotel might have, but it has what is necessary and that’s enough. I used to stay at a lot of luxury hotels but as a former NYer who lived there for more than 20 years, a place like the Night Hotel feels more like home.
