Lumahai Beach

Room on the first night had a mattress that was 10 to 15 years old. Springs were so broken there were two body shapes in the mattress 4 to 6 inches deep. Couch was old and dirty. Room smelled of body odor. After complaining the next morning, we were told nothing else was available, but another mattress cover was offered. Then after much heated exchange explaining we bought a room and it was not suitable for anyone to stay in, we were offered a room but was a downgrade from ocean view to garden view. However, we would be required to change rooms on the 4th day. Check out then check back in once a room was available in the afternoon. Which we did only to be told after we had packed and stored our luggage in our car that we could have stayed in that room because the expected occupants changed their arrival date to the following day and the manager forgot to tell us. The second room was much nicer. However, the bathroom specifically the bathtub was in need of repair. After returning home we then discovered our credit card had been charged for the stay. We had pre-paid thru Expedia. After phoning several times to speak with the manager, I was finally given her email. But due to no response I phoned again and finally was able to speak with her. She first stated we were responsible for the payment but then she realized they billed our card instead of the 3rd party associated with Expedia. Still waiting on card to be refunded.

The center with the courtyard and pool created a vibe of inclusion, playfulness, and community. The staff was absolutely some of the most warm loving people I have ever met. The gifting of a flower for your hair at breakfast was a huge heart felt touch. And who gets to experience a lovely breakfast with peacocks to fill your visual space! My time on Kauai was short and sweet and staying at the Kauai Inn was definitely so very special.

Property itself was nice and location was relatively close to Hanalei. As long as you don’t plan on golfing, I feel like the property is a good value. The golf course is super pricey so that was kind of a bummer. I’ve played pro course for far less but I guess when you’re in paradise, be prepared to pay paradise prices.
