The beautiful town of Waldhölzbach was awarded a gold medal at the federal level in 2005 in the competition 'Our village has a future'. Peace and comfort, but also a variety of leisure activities and the mild climate characterize our low mountain region. Our apartment is located in the middle of an internationally awarded premium hiking area. The proximity to France and Luxembourg with the rivers Moselle and Saar and their wine-growing areas, the historic town of Schengen and Trier, the oldest city in Germany, are ideal for day trips. But the world-famous ceramic and sanitaryware manufacturer Villeroy & Boch with its outlet center in Mettlach is also worth a visit. The community of Losheim am See has an excellent infrastructure and offers a lot of leisure activities (sailing, boating, lido on the lake, fishing, mini golf, tennis, etc.). In the new event area on the lake, several open-air concerts take place, especially in summer. There are several good restaurants and a brewery on the lake. Our inviting and fully equipped apartment is 93 square meters and has a large bedroom with 3 beds, a bathroom with shower and bathtub, a living room with additional sofa bed, a dining room and a separate kitchen. Voor ons als Nederlanders was het een typisch Duits vakantiehuis maar dan wel royaal ingericht. Ruim, uitstekende bedden, aparte eethoek, goed bruikbare keukenapperatuur, vriezertje voor de ijsjes en de mogelijkheid om vanuit huis het bos in te wandelen. Bij aankomst werden we heel hartelijk ontvangen door de gastheer en gastvrouw. Zij wonen aan de voorkant waar meer dan voldoende parkeerplek is. Via een kort steil paadje kwamen we bij het vakantie verblijf aan de achterzijde. Het uitzicht is prachtig, beetje belemmerd door de inmiddels wat grotere bomen, maar verder super mooi. De plek voor het huis is niet groot, maar heeft een heerlijk zitje om lekker te genieten. Wauw, wat een huis ! Voor ons met 2 echt wel groot. Een grote slaapkamer met kingsize bed. Een flinke badkamer. In de ruime woonkamer stonden (anders dan op de foto\`s) 2 nieuwe banken en een eethoek. Verder nog een aparte keuken met echt van alle gemakken voorzien. Op tafel in de kamer stond een welkomsmandje met wijn en lekkernijen, een super lief gebaar ! We voelden ons gelijk welkom. Wat ons opviel was hoe netjes en super schoon alles was. De gastheer en vrouw zijn heel erg vriendelijk en aardig, en erg in de weer voor je als je ergens vragen over hebt. De locatie is rustig, maar in nabijgelegen dorpen is alles te halen wat nodig is. Wij hebben veel in de omgeving gezien, en gefietst. Vlakbij het Felsenweg gewandeld. Echt een prachtige route, met veel afwisseling en hoogte verschillen. Trek wel stevige schoenen aan. Die Ferienwohnung in ihrer sehr schönen, ruhigen Lage am Rande des kleinen Ortes mit der unglaublichen Fernsicht über die herrliche Landschaft war der perfekte Ausgangspunkt. Zudem sind die Gastgeber sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben die Woche mit unserem Hund sehr genossen, waren viel in der Natur, haben auch einen Abstecher in das nahe Luxemburg gemacht - Frankreich ist ebenfalls nicht weit und dann noch die sehenswerten Städte Mettlach, Merzig und Saarburg mit Schlössern und Burgen. Rundum eine sehr vielfältige Region für Radfahren, Wandern und Kultur! ##### Irene M.
