"I LOVED this hotel BUT we never saw a single staff member in our 2 night stay. Check in and check out was done virtually. Upload all your information and they will send you your unit and code. Unfortunately with travelling I missed that info. It did say they had check in during regular hours so I didn’t worry about anything. Until we are sitting in the lot in the rain trying to upload and fill out forms on my phone. Response wasn’t immediate. I tried calling the number a couple times and no answer. Emailed and messaged via Expedia numerous times . We actually walked next door to Destino restaurant and enjoyed a fabulous dinner while we waited for their «virtual agent» to respond. Once in the room we were happy with the cabin. Beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. Out of town enough to feel peaceful. Was a little disappointed with the «hottie» as it was actually a jacuzzi tub on the deck that you have to fill with water. It was chilly and so didn’t use it because I didn’t want to wait to fill it. So I would consider staying there again and would give a better rating if we could deal with real people. I didn’t book any tours with them either because it was all with a QR code online. There wasn’t enough effort on their part to warrant the extra business so went into town and booked at a tour company in person! Side note…if you do choose to stay, eat next door at Destino. Great food and drinks. Great service! Lovely staff! REAL PEOPLE!"
"The room was absolutely lovely and restful. The hotel is very very nice and had a warm and relaxing feel to it. Old world elegance is the term I would use. We had breakfast and dinner at the Tach restaurant. The breakfast was very good with a varieties of choices and very farm to table. The dinner was excellent. Staff always friendly and attentive. The bar is especially charming and made a mean whisky sour. Loved the fireplaces for a cosy nightcap. All in all, a very pleasant stay. The only recommendation? Perhaps be the first luxury hotel to offer excellent decaf coffee. "
"Every single thing here was perfect. Our private room was lovely, food was amazing and well prepared, the grounds and common areas were meticulously maintained and beautiful and every single member of the Bambuda team was exceptional. I would return to Bowuete just to stay here again!"
"Beautiful grounds and landscaping, fresh and fragrant mountain air hits you immediately upon arrival. Room was spacious with comfortable beds. Only thing lacking was the hospitality of the reception desk staff."
"While the grounds, rooms, and majority of the staff were wonderful, we had a very poor experience at this hotel. Our power went out twice, once for 14 hours during our stay. We were not able to have showers, lights, or use any of the facilities in your room. I told the manager, Abel, about this issue and he did. Nothing, rushing to leave the facility at the end of his shift rather than taking the time so simply flip the breaker for our room and restore power. We communicated our concerns in other ways as well but still ended up packing in the dark.
When we asked for this situation to be resolved, Abel lied and said he was not aware of our situation to avoid taking responsibility.
This is a beautiful hotel, but I’m afraid that under current management, it will not be for long."
