The Mermaids Getaway - overlooking County Line State Beach - this sweet one bedroom guest house has it all: famous surfer beach is 1/2 block walkable distance, Beachy interior, fenced yard blooming with color year round and a fabulous covered balcony where you can sit and sip some wine while hearing surf pound, watch water sparkle and stunning sunsets and our abundant birds tweet, hum, chatter and squawk (black hooded parrots). All the amenities of home: Dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, washer/dryer. 55' smart tv w/ cable and netflix. It's 20 minutes to central Malibu/Camarillo/Oxnard/Ventura or 35 to Santa Monica means the Mermaid House can serve as your adventure base. We are surrounded by state and federal parks with miles of walking and biking trails. Neptunes Net Restaurant is walking distance down the street. Pretty sweet for a getaway from reality

Exceptional Experience in Lovely Malibu
Beyond our expectations! The apartment of this beautifully constructed home is spacious, well appointed, and floods with light from the balcony view of the ocean. The location in western Malibu, is serene, and puts you minutes from miles of stunning canyon hikes. A new adventure in nature every day! You are close enough (45 minutes) from the bustle of Santa Monica and beyond, but we rarely ventured beyond the easy-to-access grocery/pharmacy, Neptune's Net and Malibu Seafood. Our host was super kind and responsive, yet otherwise invisible. After years of VRBO, this is our very favorite!

California Paradise
The Mermaid House is absolutely beautiful! We had a (short) but wonderful stay at this Malibu gem on our way up the PCH to Santa Barbara. Next time, we for sure plan to stay longer as the location is perfect (you can walk to the beach and also through the neighborhood to Neptune Ned’s), the condo is immaculate, and the view of the ocean from the spacious balcony can not be beat! We highly recommend the Mermaid House and plan to stay there again!

A wonderful place to relax and recharge!
We were here for a weekend attending a family wedding. We wished we could have stayed longer! This is a beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable property with an excellent location and view! The hosts made sure we had everything we needed to feel pampered--very comfortable bed, soft sheets and quilt, robes, wine, snacks, coffee, tea.

The location is wonderful. I was on my way to the airport after a trip to the Channel Islands and needed a nice stopover. This was perfect! The apartment is stunning with an equally amazing view. I enjoyed coffee on the patio while watching the ocean and the birds that love the garden in front of the house.

I'm not sure why the photos don't do this apartment justice (they're accurate), but this place is better in person. Wonderful balcony with ocean views, a gas fireplace, suitcase stand, and a welcome bottle of wine made this apartment a gem of a find. Beach and one restaurant (Neptune's Nest) are walking distance, everything else is a drive. Very close to Grotto Trail as described on modern walker site.
