Great location in Hollywood

Posted 17-May-2016
Pros: Lots of Hollywood icon glam, original décor, great location
Cons: Friendlier pool staff and control of barking dog for hours
Location: Near the Hollywood walk of fame. Close cab ride to restaurants, Fred Segal...
This iconic hotel is located in a great location in Hollywood. The front desk, housekeeping and bell staff were all incredibly kind. The pool staff was less than attentive and downright grumpy. I don't think I saw one of the women smile or appear to be in a good mood. On the 9th floor where we were staying, a dog barked constantly from 7-10 am waking us up as well as several others on the floor. We called several times asking the hotel staff to take care of it. While we did receive a food and beverage credit, its upsetting to know that it took so long for them to access the room and take care of the barking dog. If you are going to allow pets in your hotel, you need to have a policy to help remedy this. Dogs can also upset people with allergies as well. Service pets are of course welcomed, but this was simply a poorly trained animal left to bark for hours. Needless to say it was upsetting on vacation to not be able to sleep in.

Great hotel, great location

Posted 14-May-2016
e thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel. It is positioned right on Hollywood Blvd, across the road from the Walk Of Fame, Chinese theatre etc. The hotel has kept its old look and feel in the common areas. The rooms are more modern and updated. We were in room 939 which was right at the end of the hall, which made it pretty quiet. The room was small compared to your average hotel room but very comfortable, tiny bathroom as well but it serves it's purpose. The in-room drinks and snacks are pretty expensive, but there is a CVS across the road if need be. The weather was cold when we visited so we didn't get to use the pool, but we did eat at the restaurant, 25 Degrees, at the front of the hotel. Highly recommend it! All in all, we had a great stay!

Good hotel if you get a good price

Posted 12-May-2016
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of March. We liked our stay, it was nothing crazy amazing but no complaints really. Would stay there again and recommend to a friend as long as you get a good deal on the hotel. In a very touristy neighbourhood, not a problem if you don't mind that.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. When we arrived we told the person at the desk that we were celebrating out 16year anniversary. He gave us a room with the view and sent dessert to our room!

Pros: amazing, hi-tech, modern room still appealing to Old Hollywood allure. The staff. They are beyond competent & extremely benevolent.
Cons: not sure...
Location: fantastic location on Hollywood Blvd. can be touristy. can be snobbish. what place can't be though, right?
amazing staff. eclectic surroundings with beautiful hints pertaining to the historic elegance of The Roosevelt.

Awesome hotel

Posted 25-Apr-2016
Loved this place with its history and location so you can't go wrong! Only downfall is you have to pay for your internet, we stayed in 9 hotels in our 5 week stay in the US and this hotel is the only one who charged for this.

Classy character hotel in Hollywood

Posted 23-Apr-2016
Pros: Gorgeous character, beautiful room (we upgraded one level to a suite), well thought out details. Location was exactly what we needed.
Location: Right on Hollywood Boulevard, literally across the street from the Chinese Theatre. Lots of activity street level, lots of restaurants nearby.
My wife and I had a night away from the kids and wanted a unique hotel experience without breaking the bank. Even after upgrading our room the price was comparatively reasonable (hotels closer to Universal Studios, where we were originally looking, were much pricier and probably wouldn't have had the character of the Roosevelt). We only stayed one night, but we got everything that we were looking for: great hotel, great staff if we needed anything, and a quick and easy check-in/checkout.

Dont stay here if you are not a celebrity

Posted 19-Apr-2016
Pros: The hotel is very pretty with old hollywood style. The valet men were extremely nice and courteous.
Cons: Don't treat the regular people like second class citizens and stop closing amenities that we paid good money to use.
Location: The location is good for a first time tourist, being directly across from the chinese theatre. Though Hollywood blvd is a little rough at night.
I paid what i feel is on the pricier side for my hotel room since i was celebrating my honeymoon. Upon arrival i was told that one day the lobby would be closed due to a Movie premier party; the second day my pool would be closed due to a movie filming. In addition one of the two elevators was rented out and completely unavailable. The security for these people treat you like second class citizens. At the price i paid, i expect full use of my entire hotel. If that is not possible, i would expect to be notified at booking. Not at a point where it is too late to choose another hotel. For those of you who may get a little star struck and think this is all a good thing - let me make clear that the 'regular people' are kept very far away from any celebtity so there would be no chance to get a glimpse if that is something you are interest in. to me - this was nothing but an inconvenience. Additionally, the rooms are extremely small and there is little room to put your suit cases, etc.

Location perfect

Posted 16-Apr-2016
Perfect location if not driving in LA as it is situated right across the road from the tour buses and all the Hollywood buzz. The only inconvenience was the constant disruption to hotel facilities due to hosting of premier parties every other day. So, if you are a solo traveller not into Hollywood hype, or not comfortable being out late in a bar or restaurant down the street because the one in your hotel has been closed off, probably not the place for you. Of course, there is the room service option but be prepared for the additional service fee and tipping requirements. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room large and clean and as an iPrefer member (free to join) I received an upgrade and free wifi when booking. The hotel is a little dark and the lighting system in the room was dark as well. There is no central control so you have to walk around switching on and off half a dozen lights. The bathroom was clean with fresh towels daily with the usual complimentary toiletries ( soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, cotton buds), hairdryer and bathrobe. 25 Degrees burger bar onsite was amazing. Best veggie burger and onion rings and waffles were light and fluffy! 10/10!
