"Staff were unhelpful, housekeeping looked to have rushed room including missing essentials like toilet paper. They were still cleaning rooms next to us after arriving at 8pm. It was a good job we’d been travelling for over 14 hours so just showered and passed out asleep. Would not stay here again and pay the amount we did, it wasn’t worth it."

"Strict 3pm check-in with no flexibility. I arrived earlier and waited 15 minutes at reception with no staff present, while a queue built up. The only positive is that you can leave your bags while waiting. I was “upgraded” to a one-bedroom, but it’s actually a worse layout than the studio—awkward use of space, difficult to store luggage, and excessive, impractical wardrobes near the entrance. I stayed here a few months ago in a studio and the decline is noticeable. The main issue is cleanliness. Corridors remained dirty for days, suggesting they’re vacuumed only once or twice a week. Elevators were consistently unclean as well. Inside the room, surface-level cleaning is done, but not the details: food leftovers on the table, a sofa with visible yellow stains, a shoe mark on the pillow, hair and buildup around the toilet rim, mold in the shower and washing machine, and a burnt, uncleaned cooking surface. I had to run a cleaning cycle on the washing machine and wipe visible mold from the rubber seal. I also used an entire bottle of bleach on arrival. The view was directly onto a construction site. From around 7am, noise from machinery moving dirt will wake you. There is also an Uber hub below, with constant noise until at least 10pm. Opening windows for fresh air isn’t really an option, as cigarette smoke reaches up to the third floor. I stayed 9 nights due to limited alternatives on short notice. I have cancelled my future booking and will continue looking for other options."

Travelodge Hotel Sydney Airport

"Generally when I stay at the Travelodge it is seamless however, the last visit was disappointing. I had to wait an hour for my room which was booked well in advanced and the restaurant was closed even tho the receptionist said it was open. Lots of people ordering at the bar and nowhere to sit. Comfortable room. Shuttle service great."

Meriton Suites Mascot Central

"Great location in the Mascot pedestrian shopping precinct. Everything at your doorstep if you plan to cook etc., in the suite. Kitchen is well equipped and all essentials well laid out. Lots of room in the one bedrooms suite (although the one I had this time had everything included like the last stay but was smaller but more then adequate as I used it as an overnight hotel as it's close to the airport). Two words of advise. 1) If you can, choose an Uber to get there from SYD. I got into a cab and got grief from the cabbie as he was upset that the fare was so close to the hotel (he had to line up in order to get a stop to pick up passengers at the terminal). Or make sure to tell the cab driver before he loads your luggage where you are going. 2) Make sure you give the driver the correct address as there are 2 Meriton hotels in the same area."
