This place was weirdly sketchy. The entrance was confusing if you're not coming from the right direction and there's no signage on the backside. It's also not close to much either.
The entryway smells of mildew and the layout is strange. The checkin was fast and the staff was nice.
We took the hallway to our room on the main floor which reeked of cologne or gross cleaner.
Our room was awkward..the door to the bathroom opens the incorrect way and everything was pushed toward the door.
The room was clean-ish. The carpet was NASTY. There was a blood stain looking spot on the side of the bed, and it felt under foot as though it hadn't been vacuumed in some time, and the floor underneath was uneven.
I work in construction so I tend to notice shoddy work - and this was a "lipstick on a pig" makeover. Wallpaper and paint to cover up water damage, cheap carpet that needs care, and general lack of maintenance.
Need a cool glass of water in the middle of the night? It'll come out hot. The coolest we could get it to was lukewarm.
Need to make a LOCAL phone call? They'll charge you 30 pence upon checkout, even though there was no signage anywhere indicating it would cost you. This must be a common complaint, as the staff waived it as soon as we started resisting the charge.
Oh, and the housekeepers will start banging on your door at 9 and IMMEDIATELY enter without even pausing for response. Check out is at 12, so why not obtain a list of guests who have already departed, rather
