The staff were great though the hotel is undergoing renovations and so all facilities are not up and running. There is no food on the premises but they encourage you to use the Sound Cafe in the hotel next door. Not convenient and the one morning we went to the Cafe they were so very rude, we left and went someplace else.

What I liked: Location and helpful receptionists who kindly upgraded my booking to a suite which was a kind gesture but which backfired on me (read on). What I didn’t like: It’s worth noting that this doesn't feel like a proper hotel because if you want to just go down to a hotel restaurant, it doesn't have it’s own restaurant but ‘borrows’ the one in the Thistle hotel next door so you have to go out of the front door and walk along the road for all meals. Internet didn't work at all correctly in the room despite reporting this to reception several times. Wifi was either non-existant or too slow which isnt helpful because I travelled specifically for business and had arranged virtual meetings during my stay. I had to cancel them. Deeply disappointing. In short it felt more like an overpriced Travelodge albeit with very polite and apologetic reception staff and without the option to have a decent internet connection.

Late booking, due to change of travel plans. Found the hotel description 'Park Lane' misleading, as isn't on Park Lane! When checking in, felt a bit like a second class citizen as other check ins before us were given a small box of chocolates or something and 'enjoy your stay' whereas we weren't....it shouldn't matter how we booked or for how long! Bedroom was in the basement - no windows...not advised of this. It was also very cramped with one side of the bed against the wall - not really suitable for 2 tall people....and it meant one of us had to climb out of the bed to visit the bathroom at night - very awkward trying not to disturb the other, especially as the bed was only a standard double.

Great location. Walking distance to train Station, shops and restaurants. The staff was great and the room was really clean. I would stay here again.
