Take your bikes with you and use the very useful bike shed - can cycle along the Crinan Canal watching all the boat movements, enjoy coffee t Paula's Cafe or Crinan Basin, or even cycle to historic Kilmartin Glen. This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 30 Mar 2025 #### Luxury base to explore the area We had a wonderful stay, the amenities in the cottage were better than usual. We were able to explore the area after our visits so long ago to find the changes that have been made since. The Kilmartin museum and glen being the important one. Even though a lot of the hotels and places were closed for refurbishment prior to the season we found forestry walks and catered for ourselves in the well appointed cottage. Thanks to Argyle self catering who efficiently found this cottage for us after our other choice had to be cancelled. This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Marie W. 9 Oct 2023 #### Pretty cottage Pretty, spotless, cottages with the Crinan Canal on your doorstep. Location right on Crinan Canal with a great 4 mile walk to Crinan which has a lovely cafe and restaurant! The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Comfy bed, good heating system, hot water instantly. Easy parking close by. A very thoughtfully presented property which we much appreciated. Hope to return. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Alison S. 27 Oct 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Mum's 90th After searching accommodating in Argyle i picked Coorie Doon & the property was beautiful. Very well appointed with everything you could think of & more. The area has so much to see & such history also. I would recommend picking this cottage & enjoying the whole experience of cottage & area. The only thing that could be better would be to do it in summer & watch the boats on the Crinan Canal. ##### Alison S. Stayed 4 nights in Oct 2023 This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 1 May 2025 #### Great Stay in a lovey little cottage My partner and I came to Corrie Doon to get away, sight see and do some songwriting. We picked this cottage because it had two bedrooms so we could go and do work in different rooms and that worked. It was a great little cottage - lovely location with the canal right outside the door and garden - and good spot to drive off and see some of the ancient historic sights and villages near by we especially loved Tayvillich. Although there were two bedrooms the cottage would have been too small if four people had used it but it was fine for the two of us. it was clean and nicely stocked with all the cooking utensils etc that you would need along with firewood for the wood burner, and oil and cooking bits like, salt and pepper, herbs and spices etc - that was a nice touch. Beds were comfy, shower easy to use etc and the home was always a nice warm tempreture ....It was a shame that the local hotel, which we had hoped would be somewhere to go for a meal or evening drink or breakfast, was totally shut and apart from Pollys coffee very small kind of tin shack on the side of the canal, there was no where near by to get anything to eat or drink. I think if there had been just one place to go and sit down and have some food or drink it would have been better but on saying that i would highly recommend the place as it was easy to drive out to places and it was perfect for our needs - beautiful pine filled hills to the right of the house and lovely flat canal side walks - It was easy to get in touch with people for any questions and i thought it was great 9 out of 10 really...a lovely calm stay (midges did come out in full force once the sun came out though!!) .. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Stefanie v. 20 Aug 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy Beautiful and very well equipped cottage, we did not miss anything. The location at the canal between Crinan and Lochgilphead was perfect. ##### Stefanie v. Stayed 6 nights in Aug 2025 This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Linda E. 2 Jul 2025 #### A little gem of a cottage A superb stat in this cosy cottage. We hope to return. Great position , well equipped, quiet. Happy Days.. ##### Linda E. This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 30 Jun 2025 #### Crinan Canal Holiday A most enjoyable week. The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. The location was great, and let us explore Argyll from a very central position. We saw many interesting historical sites along with some spectacular views (sometimes through the rain, but spectacular nevertheless!) ### 10/10 Excellent #### drew i. 14 Jul 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Last minute break with the family This was a last minute booking. Took my two 20 something girls away for a few days and I can honestly say we were all mightily impressed with the accommodation and location. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. ##### drew i. Stayed 4 nights in Jul 2023 This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### William G. 14 Jul 2025 #### Retired couple’s stay in July 2025. A lovely cottage in which no expense was spared by the owners, situated by the banks of the Canal, so close to passing yachts etc that verbal communication was possible. The amount of traffic in the canal was impressive and my partner and I spent many hours sitting outside in the garden enjoying watching all that was going on. Walks on the canal pathway were our daily exercise and highly recommended. We slept in the bedroom overlooking the canal and the bed was “brilliant”, so cosy and comfortable. The downside of staying in a semi remote location is mobile phone reception is poor and tv reception is non existent without using Wi-Fi to access personal channels both however are easily overcome. The other, and possibly only real downside which was disappointing, is that there are no restaurants, bars or hotels within reasonable walking distance which meant a drive for an evening out. The Cairnbaan Hotel, which is presently under redeveloped ,is a five minute walk away, when open it will be a great asset to the locality. All said we had a great stay in Coorie Doon cottage.. ##### William G. This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 24 Jul 2023 #### A very good stay. As good and wonderful as our stay at Coorie Doone was, there were one or two things that I would like to report. Firstly, the suspended bedside lamps in the main bedroom were very annoying and, as they seemed to be made of glass, possibly dangerous. Each time we bent down to take items from the table tops, we banged our heads on the lamps. This affected both of us so a supported claim. Small table lamps or wall lights would be better. A set of napkins would have been useful as we had to use kitchen paper instead. Also, a hand towel in the kitchen would also have been ueful as we had to dry our hands on the tea towel. In addition a small sharp knife for peeling vegetables would also have been useful and another toilet roll would not have gone amiss. That’s all of the more negative stuff. We had a lovely week in the cottage. We love that area of Scotland so we had a great stay and even the Scottish weather shone for us.
