"The room was very clean and in great condition. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were nice and plush. The closet was a huge walk in style so I was able to unpack and not have to feel like living out of a luggage bag. I loved the in room refrigerator. The shower was powerful and luxurious. Internet connected easy and was a good speed for working. Being an American speaking English only all staff was kind and spoke English for me. I felt right at home."

"This is a beautiful old hotel property. It has great bones and the rooms have been updated and modernized nicely. That said, there are some very quirky aspects to the property. Firstly, there is no reception - just an automated machine that provides a key card. This means that there is no one to ask about parking, amenities etc. The second thing is that no one speaks English at all. The cleaning staff was very sweet but could not speak a word. We had to use Google Translate for all...

Top Löbichau Hotel Reviews

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful hotel set in nice grounds. The main building used to be a palace. We were allocated a room in the adjoining building. When we first arrived, we were told that they were full, despite us having booked in advance. But this was soon sorted out. Our room was clean and tidy and spacious. It had a slanted ceiling right above the bed, so we had to be careful getting in and out. The wifi was not very strong in the room but luckily we did not really need it for anything special. The restaurant offered a buffet or the a la carte menu. The buffet looked a bit lacking so we chose the menu and the food was excellent. We can highly recommend the pork schnitzel and the salmon. Parking free and on site. All in all, a lovely place to stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lobichau?
The best area to stay in Lobichau is the town centre, particularly around the historic marketplace, for its convenience and access to local amenities.

The town centre is the heart of Lobichau, offering a central base for exploring. The marketplace, known as Marktplatz, is a focal point, often hosting local events and featuring several traditional Thuringian eateries. You'll find shops and cafes dotted along the streets leading off the Marktplatz, making it easy to access everything on foot.

Couples looking for a relaxed and authentic German experience will find the town centre appealing. It's a pleasant area for evening strolls, with historic buildings and quiet alleys. You're also well-placed to visit the local museum or enjoy a coffee at a pavement cafe.

For those planning day trips to the surrounding Thuringian countryside or nearby cities like Leipzig, staying within the town centre provides excellent road access.
When is the best time to go to Lobichau?
The best time to visit Lobichau is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather with comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region and enjoying outdoor activities without the extremes of summer heat or winter cold. You'll find the countryside lush in spring with blooming flowers or adorned with the rich colours of autumn.

For those interested in hiking or cycling through the Thuringian Forest, these months provide the superb conditions. The trails are generally dry, and the moderate temperatures make for enjoyable excursions. It's also a good time to visit local vineyards and enjoy regional produce before or after the main harvest season.

If you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds, particularly at local attractions or restaurants, visiting outside of the peak summer holiday season can be beneficial.
